Purchased an atlas mini and was wondering what's the correct position to place the blade for heat treatment? First blade I did was 1084 and ended up flipping it several times. Had a very minor warp that ground out when finishing. Second one was 80crv2 and it took a terrible warp. Guessing I'm messing up with the forge,used to heating with an oxy/ace torch. Using parks 50 for oil.

The blade is usually kept moving to assure even heating. Roll from side to side and point the tip toward the sides. Set on edge with the spine upward. flip-roll-flit- etc.
Observe the edge and tip. It isn't critical if the spine is not hot enough, but is a problem if the edge or tip is too hot.

If I am heat treating in a forge, the blade NEVER sits still. I also occasionally pull it out for a few seconds to let the heat equalize.
