Blade play? on Delica

Sal said on the official Spyderco forum, that the little notch is a byproduct of the process used to cut the blade shape. There might be other benefits to the little notch, but it was not designed in purposefully from what I gathered. This was a few years back, so maybe there is new information?

Also, I don't believe there is any hand fitting being done on Delicas, Enduras, etc.

The Chaparral doesn’t use Triad lock geometry. It has a standard lock back design with an internal stop pin(in blade) that uses the liners. The variants use different style cutouts to achieve the desired lock up.

It would be great if all Spyderco back locks had this stop pin. Especially the Police. I know lock rock doesn't hurt function but I still dont like it at all.

My wife picked up a Delica recently. It is the first in the household and I was a little worried after reading this thread but fortunately there is no play in the blade at all. For a fairly inexpensive knife, it has definitely exceeded our expectations. She normally carries a different knife daily but she has carried this one just about everyday for several weeks.

I'm sure you are right , especially after my little expedition into the unknown .
Thanks for info from Sal confirming it .

OK , but , if I want to have my little vision of dozens of HIGHLY TRAINED elfin beings in a room with a golden hue diligently honing and fitting Spydercos . . .

Excellent choice .
Excellent build .

I'll gladly dispose of any FRN Spyderco lockbacks with even the slightest about of vertical play. DM me for my address and I'll handle them all.
