Blade possibly overheated? What to do?

So recently, I cut an old piece of spring steel, annealed it and have gotten close to the hardening process. Well, it hit me that when I first annealed the metal, it flaked off and added pits (I've since grinded those away). So to avoid that from happening again when I harden it, I looked up what to do.

To my surprise, it seems I may have overheated the steel, and I'm quite worried now because I'm almost done. I haven't noticed any issues while grinding etc. The steel should be 5160. Am I okay or should I do something to fix it? Is it unfixable?? What?

Here are a couple images of the knife where it's at now to assess what you think. They are quite high quality.

Here is an older image that shows before I did too much grinding (the pitting that isn't black is from an angle grinder)

How did you anneal it? How do you intend to harden it? What on earth is the knife meant to do?
