So I think I found the knive I would like to get, the last choice is the color...

Wondering in blades what you all prefer especially for real use/durability...

Here is what I am thinking of...

Finishes usually scratch off with use, so after a while the coated blade will look very used, while the satin blade will look new. So if she's going in the pocket, I'd choose the satin. IF she were going intp the vault the black would do.

That coating is one of the best looking on the market IMO. However I would definately go for the satin for the reason above and I also just love the look of a nice satin finish, especially a nice horizontal rubbed satin like that.

It also depends on your location. I believe that this particular William Henry is D2 steel. If you are near the water in Mass. all year, the coated blade might be a good choice. If corrosion isn't an issue, I would definitely opt for the Satin finish.

My only concern is "real use/durability". William Henry manufactures very well-made knives. But they're not the first folder manufacturer I think of when "real use/durability" comes to mind. Having said that, if I were to purchase a William Henry knife to use, I'd also go for the carbon fiber and satin.

What's wrong? Will they come apart, break or get blade play if yo use them much? I don't have any but they sure are nice looking folders. Anyway, satin - no doubt! ;)

Depends on what you use them for. I don't have to tell you that some folders are capable of harder use than others. ;)

Actually, I've been on the fence between a William Henry and a Sebenza for some time. For my purposes (urban/office use), either one would be more than adequate. The difference for me is the bling factor. William Henry's are slimmer, lighter, and look TERRIFIC! But if I had to choose one to throw in my BOB, the Sebbie would win hands down.

it's probably in the same use-league as a case or gec or a leek
so for normal edc/gentleman it will for sure be fine

for me a #73 gec and a zt 0301 will be used for similar things, I mean they'll be used to cut, wisely.

so I found a really good deal on the wood handled satin one and am thinking of picking that up, as for usage most it will see is cutting paper or tape holding together a box so nothing really "rough".

Sounds perfect, Mathew. Pick it up and enjoy it! :D

Hey thanks,

Yeah the price is inline with the Benchmade I was looking at and considerably less than the Chris Reeve mnandi that I also liked...

Just have to divert funds to my knife account and then see if they will ship to work as I am in process of moving.

I like a bare blade more than a coated blade, myself. I don't find there's much practical difference between the two, so it mostly comes down to aesthetics for me.

Thanks all,

So I have it down to either this:

or this:

And given the deal I'm looking at like a $160 difference in the price.

Like them both but my wallet likes the WH more.

What kind of deal are you looking at for the WH? I just bought a Mesquite Mnandi but could see myself turning one of those WH EDC models into my EDC. They are $250 over at knife art.

dnuggett asks a good question. The difference in list price between those two knives is $100.00. If I'm doing my math properly, it sounds as if you may be able to pick up the WH for less than $200.00. If that's the case, the WH would be difficult to resist. But before you buy it, I'd suggest you ask yourself this question. After the happiness you gain because of the amount you were able to save on the WH wears off, which knife would you most enjoy pulling out of your pocket? In the long run, the answer to that question will probably mean more to you than the price you paid for it.

Hey thanks,

Honestly I am not tied to either brand really as I only learned of either over the course of the past few years, they both seem fine and from what I can gather in reading posts both are highly regarded.

To me they both look nice for different reasons, I like the handle on the mnandi a little more but the button lock on the WH seems a little nicer to me for a gents folder, plus I like the look of the blade on the WH better.

And yeah the price I found on the WH is just shy of $200, but even with that MSRP is a cool $100 less than the CR, which could arguably be another knife or in some cases two.
