blade preference satin or carbide?

Hey thanks,

Honestly I am not tied to either brand really as I only learned of either over the course of the past few years, they both seem fine and from what I can gather in reading posts both are highly regarded.

To me they both look nice for different reasons, I like the handle on the mnandi a little more but the button lock on the WH seems a little nicer to me for a gents folder, plus I like the look of the blade on the WH better.

And yeah the price I found on the WH is just shy of $200, but even with that MSRP is a cool $100 less than the CR, which could arguably be another knife or in some cases two.

Where is it just shy of $200? I'll add one at that price.

Did you happen to see the Fallkniven P3g?

That really is a killer price. And I haven't seen WH's discounted before. So make sure you're dealing with a reputable seller if you decide to buy one.

Hey thanks,

So they claim to be a WH AD but I emailed WH about them to check, looks like this is a discount price or whatever on that specific model (well that one and also the other wooden handle)

Still waiting to hear back from WH before I place my order.

If you google WH and that specific model number they should show up.

Hey thats a pretty nice knife too....if you guys all beat me to the WHs then maybe I will fall back on that.

Cheapest shipping though with them on the WH is $20, still cheaper than MSRP but definately not a steal as that is some spendy shipping.

Thanks

Found them. Turns out I'm going to be in their neck of the woods next week. If I get a chance, I'll drop by and check them out for myself.

Hey just got an email back and apparently they are not an AD for WH...explains the pricing.

You're right. The company is not listed on the William Henry Authorized Dealer List. That raises a BIG red flag for me. Nevertheless, I'm going to be in their neighborhood next week so I'll drop by and check them out anyway. And I'll ask them a couple of penetrating questions while I'm there. ;)

Ha,

You know I am a bit iffy on dealer lists, I know more than a few brands which do a horrible job of keeping them updated thus I don't take them at face value...

examples would be Dunhill, Cupojoes is one of their biggest US dealers yet isn't on the site....or don't even get me started on the Omega watch site leaving dealers off.

But if a company comes back and says for certain that they aren't an AD, well then how can you not listen to that :).

I dropped by the retailer today. Turns out they WERE an authorized William Henry dealer, but they were discounting the knives to their best customers and William Henry got wind of it. So William Henry transferred their authorized dealer status to a competitor just a few blocks away. (I visited the other dealer just to make sure.)

I picked up an E4-EDC while I was there. The retailer was so upset with William Henry that they gave me a dealer display stand for free! Nice knife. Nice price. Nice gift with purchase. I'm a happy camper. :)

PS: They're selling their entire remaining inventory of William Henry knives at ~25% off retail. ;)

damn that was the knife I was looking at...

Now I can see why WH gave me the very curt response when I asked about their AD status.

Congrats on the knife.

Thanks, Mathew. Sometimes it's just a matter of being at the right place at the right time. :)
