Blade re-coating a possibility?

hate to be bearer of bad news but I am Pretty sure this re-coating falls under custom work rather than "spa treatment".

and custom work =

The Busse Custom Shop is experiencing an enormous backlog at this time.

We have 5 fulltime makers in the Custom Shop who are squirreled away in the "Crab Shack" working furiously to keep up.

New custom orders along with other Custom Shop projects are standing at nearly 18 months and quickly growing.

Due to this backlog we are suspending any new orders for custom blades and/or customizing (Handles, Liners, Refinishing, etc....) for the next 36 months.

There will continue to be new customs to score at the major shows like Knob Creek and BLADE Show that are already an integral part of the Custom Shop production schedule.

Thanks for overwhelming us you bacon hungry HOGS!!!!!:thumbup::D

Post #21 was what I was dreading, but also it’s right there on the web page, so not entirely unexpected

The coating isn’t necessary unless I completely run out of oil. I’m happy with the blade, though as one poster mentioned there’s no end to improvement. Thanks for the comments and the help!

Patinas really are fun to play with. Best thing about them is that if you don' like the way it turns out you can just buff it off and try something else. This was the first look my DTBM wore after I got the paint off of it. Vinegar bath followed with mustard stripes.

Did you wrap the handles or remove them?

If I decide to apply my own coating, will the Decarb layer help the new coat stick better? Also, if 325 degree temperature is required, will the micarta burn?(darken and become brittle?)

I wonder if they are looking for a team player with no knowledge of knifemaking who will work for whiskey and a place to hang my hammock.(and an occasional knife) Sometimes the people with no knowledge are the easiest to teach! Let me know if and where to send resume.
