Blade regrind in Europe?

Hi,

I am looking at different knifes and often turn away because of the balde grind. I have just read about a few successful regrind jobs that worked very well. I am wondering whether there is someone in the EU / Europe that offer such services. I am located in Germany and would much prefer to avoid shipping to and back from US plus the whole VAT issue.

thanks

I will have a look at that german forum, but I am trying to keep the number of fora as low as possible :)

If I am not mistaken after some search it would seem that rs-Travis is in New Zealand.

If these are folders, and I am making a big presumption here, and you can take them apart, just send the blade.

That's what I do, because there's more to a regrind than a guy with a grinder!!

When you send just the blade, it is no longer a 'knife' but a 'part' and that changes everything in terms of VAT (duty)

The shipping is more expensive, but getting a perfectly functional and aesthetically pleasing regrind is more then worth the little bit of extra wait time and money....

I absolutely agree on all points. It would just of course be simpler (and faster) to find a skilled craftsman in Europe. I have to admit I did not realise that one only needs to send the blade :)
