I have a Hanwei Tactical Wakizashi (20" blade in 5160 steel) that i'd like to have reprofiled to a more resilient edge geometry

If anyone knows someone in or near Austin that does this kind of work, please let me know

thanks

also, if you do this kind of work and you're NOT in the area, i'd like to hear from you as well. An idea of the pricing and turnaround on this kind of work, and perhaps a suggestion as to what i should be doing to the blade would be welcome

called them earlier today. They want $10/inch to sharpen it... the other 3 people i've talked to said they'd do it for $2/inch or less but i'd rather not ship it if i can avoid it. That's why i'm looking for someone local

FWIW, KnifeSharpest put the most awesome edge on my skinning knife that i've ever seen... it's sharper than anything i've ever owned, including my shun knives

This thread should not be in shop talk.

It needs to be in services wanted.

Service should not be solicited unless you are a legit provider for this site. By doing so it is not fair to the providers who have that right to solicit business.

Please do not take advantage of those who keep this site open. It just is not right.
