Blade Request: Busse Seax

Turns out that our ancestors were Vikings.

The "BUSSE" name is from the largest warship ever made by the Vikings, called the Busse

I have drawn several Seax and I definitely foresee one in the future...... Might be 20 years from now, but it's coming.

Hey maybe we are cousins lol. I was born in WV and my relatives are Vikings. Not too far away from Wauseon.

I would love to have a Seax. I forgot to put that on my last post. I love the blade geometry.

I stole this pic from a maker here, Koyote Knives

I prefer the broken back style. Looks like a number of American Bowie designs. Funny coincidence? ?

May have to will this quest to my grandson!

Vikings were a naughty bunch.
My ancestors are according to the documents from West and Central Europe and maybe one guy from today's North Italy in the 16 hundreds.
However my DNA has a large chunk of Scandinavian markers.
Something must have happened there. Maybe Gustav Adolph troops or even some Vikings :-O

I am willing to wait. That is a blade design that I have always loved.

So, about two weeks then?

Yes ! I like that style too.
I have been wanting one for a while and finally bought this one from Himalayan Imports (whose picture this is). This is the design and size (I think it will be ~8" blade, don't have it yet) I wanted, although I hope Jerry's design gives at least some finger guard :)

I also had these smaller variations made from existing knives. The first is a modified wolverine from Big Chris (awesome knife, ~5" blade, not a traditional seax handle obviously).

And this 4" blade one from Bark River Wilderness Explorer (I prefer the straight spine, but they have a design with the curved spine pattern and made it that way). Very nice knife.

So Jerry - I'm really excited you have something in the works. I like the broken back design described by Shane with a long almost straight cutting edge and a long pointy blade. The HI is probably the closest of the 3 I own I'm hoping for maybe 8" or so blade length and Infi or SR101 would be perfect for this design.

Hope you don't mind I posted pics of other makes, but any Busse design and build would be awesome!!
