Hello everyone! Well, I was just wondering what my fellow knife enthusiasts' favorite blade shapes are. So? What blade shape do you like and for what reason? I like the bowie and drop point shapes. Bowie cus it looks really nice and drop because it's really good for a lot of purposes.

For EDC... Wharncliffe!

I like daggers and stiletto bayonet grinds. Not very practical, but they look sexy. For EDC, I prefer an Emerson tanto.

My favorite is the drop point followed closely by the leaf shape blades. Drop point is probably the best all around blade shape for tactical and utility use. Leaf shape just looks cool to me and is friendly looking so its ideal for edc.

Leaf shape for EDC and whatever you call the shape of a Rat-1(please correct me) for outdoors.

I like wharncliffe and FFG leaf for work/edc.I like my Native for self defense-What style of blade is it-spear point?

EDC: Drop point
Outdoors: Drop point
Defensive (aka tactical...there, i said it): Drop point with recurve and false edge

what can i say, it works

I like a sharp (fine) point in the middle of the blade. I do a lot of food preparation and need to be able to bone, core, fillet and break down various types of foods. Also blades which are tall from top to bottom won't turn a very sharp corner. It's sort of like a band saw. The smaller the blade from front to back, the smaller radius cut can be made.

Leaf shaped and Wharncliffs work well for me. A good drop point works for me too. I don't hard use folders, so thick, swedged spines and blades, although ok in my book (A Gayle Bradley profile is about the limit for me on this blade type) don't get purchased too often. I like FFG leaf and drop point profiles the most and I like Wharnies although I only have a couple.

Pretty sure its a leaf shape with a swedge. Spear point looks more like the kershaw skyline.

Clip point. Its the best for precision work. I know it is a tad more delicate then some shapes, but if you use your knife properly, it should not be an issue. Its the main reason I love the Buck 110. (If only it didn't weigh a ton, I would edc it a lot more)

Unfortunately, the clip point seems to have gone out of vogue as of late.
