Blade Sharpening with Lansky...???...

What do you guys do about the point??? Some OEM sharpened new 110's/112's I've gotten had needle points...can you sharpen the point to a needle tip???

...I think that's all about "feel" that you get after you've used it a while Trax...I sorta just "feather" the stone slightly when at the tip to maintain that sharp point and have had no problems keeping it intact. You'll notice that the angle changes as as you go around the radius towards the tip and you'll end up with a slightly wider edge at that point. I've actually changed the hole I used on the tip area going from 17 to 20 or from 20 to 25 when i'm in the radius...That seems to keep the edge width consistent for me...

Trax, would ya say that I should've added the stand to my Christmas list?

Can't hurt...cheap...

How functional is that kit w/o the stand?

I've just started switching from holding the clamp (as in the instructions) to holding the knife handle (as suggested above)...works much better...without the stand...

The stand is kind of a loose fit into the clamp...too loose, I'd say...and it's top-heavy and prone to fall over with a Buck 110 on it...

I'll try screwing it to a board later and see if that is any better...

Holding the knife and using a light touch on the stone/rod is probably the best technique...but as DarrylS would say, "I am only an egg!"...

I need pics to get a better idea. Guess I'll wait to see if I even get one.
Thanks Richard...
