Hey everyone, I've been thinking about getting a ZT/Emerson collaboration. The only problem is, state law allows 3.5" and under. If I got one of these, will someone be able to shorten the blade to about 3.3"? Also, if the knife needed warranty, I could still get it as long as I paid $30 to replace the blade, correct?

Which state do you live in? I'm betting the law is open to some interpretation.

Actually if you consider just the cutting edge it is only 3.5 inches so you are good to go:)

Okay. It's pretty clear that 3.5" is the limit which means you only have to take .1" off of a ZT/Emerson or you'll have to call it a hunting knife and not commit any crimes with it.

As long as you are using it legally and not in the commission of a crime, you really don't need to knock 3/10 inch off. There are plenty of makers and customizers (is that a word?) here that can take off 1/10" . You could probably do it yourself by dropping the point a bit with sandpaper and patience.

Read this: http://www.knifeden.com/knife-laws-in-colorado/ . Take the blade down to 3.5", use it responsibly and enjoy.

If you do end up having your ZT's nose bobbed I recommend Charlie Mike. He's done a number of such jobs for me and beautifully, too.
