BLADE SHOW ’2016' ~ Show Us What You Got!

Mike Williams, M.S.

I have been studying Flayderman's book on Bowies, and this is the sort of knife that I am really coming to respect/appreciate. This is probably the most common traditional style of construction (unless this is a frame handle and not a full tang). Mike, and Don Hanson, both do this style very so well. It is a joy to behold! Shame I won't actually hold it. Great stuff, though.

My photos looked a lot better when my eyes were closed. :P[/QUOTE]

Great stuff here from everybody.

Bing- You are KILLING it buddy! Looking forward to catching up with you and seeing those beauties.

Sam Lurquin will be presenting 5 knives for his MS stamp. Here is one of them he will bring to the table.

That is spectacular!:)

^ I really like this folder, simplistic, yet very nice looking. Great stag.
Keep um coming guys/girls! Getting close to Show time!!!!!

There's so many extraordinary works being displayed in this thread, I'm intimidated to share my own. Great work, gang!!!

Here's what I'll have for show-and-tell. Joey P. has been gracious enough to offer to display it for me in an area of the Diskin booth. Still working on the sheath...

13-1/2" long blade of .300" thick Crucible CPM-4v, beveled and polished spine, with a full hand satin finish blade. Some of you that might have some experience with this steel will be able to understand just what that finish entails, and how much work it was, but suffice it to say that almost all sandpapers just won't touch this stuff. At all. Feels like swiping a microfiber cloth across a sheet of glass.

The wood is cocobolo that was given to me by an immensely gifted woodworker. He, in turn, had received this wood from a Master Craftsman that worked for over fifty years at the Kittinger Furniture company in Buffalo (Old-World craftsmanship, and one of their notable achievements is that they provided the dining room ensemble for the White House, which I believe it is still in use today). By our best estimations, this man received this wood somewhere in the twenties or thirties, perhaps earlier. It is WONDERFULLY colored and deep. The menuki is a sword enwrapped in a dragon.

My photos don't do this justice, as they never seem to, so first stop at Blade will be to visit Coop and Susan. :)

I enjoy that immensely, Matt.
You really put on your thinking cap for that one.
I like your work focus that seems to be very consistent.
This one, however, shows something just a little bit extra.
It's really spectacular.

Bob, you are killing it with the folders you are making.
Beautiful work especially the first and forth posted above.
I love your bolster treatment.

Bob, These are all beauties. Can hardly wait to see them up close. I really liking the Copper and mammoth.:thumbup::thumbup:

Here's what I'm bringing to the show. Might be some dust on them as these are just quick cellphone pics.

You are just killin' 'em! The etched bolsters are particularly noteworthy. It's this kind of work that becomes identifiable with a maker, and that's a very good thing for the maker, collector and community in general. Superb! The bottom one deserves an award.:)

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. Hope all can make the trip to Atlanta.

I kinda want to smack you Bing for not sending that to me as soon as you finished it!!! Killer work buddy!

Rob, Ha Ha I almost spit my coffee out when I read this :D Thanks Pal
