Blade Show 2013 - FEEDING TIME

OK, I've never been to Blade so can someone explain to me how this process with cards works? It looks more like an auction then a straight sale.
Thanks.

You catch a card and you can then buy the knife the card is numbered for at a slight discount during the show. You can hang on it until Sunday if you want and trade with others. Some of the cards had coupons in them for an additional discount off said knife. Most of the time the knives are there in the back, I know at last years show, some of the cards were for knives that were not made yet. I got a card for $50 off of a straight handled something that is still not ready.

Ok, So they display the knives on the table to people can take a look at them and maybe write down the number of the knife that they want. Then later, one of the Busse crew hold up each knife, a bunch of people hold up their hands (or butterfly nets :) ) and they toss the card for that knife into the crowd so that they can buy it or trade their cards to someone else.

Does that sound right?

I'd bring a giant net too....

That is part of it, kinda, but the knives that are numbered are not on display. Usually everything on the table can be bought right then and there. The knives pertaining to the cards are brought out at special daily presentations in which Garth yells the details of said mystery knife along with price and show discount, then the numbered tags for that knife get thrown. If you catch it, you can buy or trade it with someone else. In some cases, if I caught one that someone next to me wanted, I just handed them the tag. You will see the "cool" guys doing that sometimes.

The knives on the numbered tags can be pretty original or in some cases very similar to what is or was laying on the table earlier that day. For example, at least 7 MOABs showed up this year, but no tags were thrown for them. The FAT FSH's were on the table, I believe, as well as tags being thrown for it.

I hope that makes a little more sense. Basically, if you see something you want on the table, grab it. Then try to catch every tag you can when they are thrown. The table items can change throughout the day, they try to keep a steady flow to avoid being dry of knives in the first hour of the show.

Oh, the super thin skeleton keys were done a little differently. They had tons of them and handed them out to everyone that wanted one. You did still have to pay for it though, that was some serious trust on Busse's part.

For the record, this is only my second Blade show, so there may be other surprises that I am yet to see.

Some excellent photos! If I had missed this Show I'd be truly bummed. Anybody that hasn't attended....see you in 2014.
