If you can make it to the Blade Show next year then GO!!!!!!! It is great!! This year was my first year going and I had a blast. I wish I had stayed for the dinner on saturday night. Then I could have meet some more of you forums members. Every row I went down I found another knife I wanted. Thats the only bad part.
All those knives and not enough money. Oh well maybe by next year I'll be rich.
In '99 we will all have either shirts, hits or pins to identify us. We will also have a dinner on Saturday night. I most certainly plan to attend unless I win some funky award and have to attend the BladeShow dinner. But I will show up even after that.

Mike,
The ABS dinner and awards banquet is on Sat. Can we think about FRI.
Since I live in ATL, I also volunteer to organize this get together or help in any way I can.
Looking forward to it regardless.
Gus
. Now that I have some detailed info I just need to talk my new wife into a trip that happens through Atlanta on those days! Time to start plotting, er organizing...
For those who've been to both - how does this show compare to the Knifemaker's Guild show? I live in Las Vegas, and can't justify going to Atlanta in June, then New Orleans in July (nor will I have enough money to make it worthwhile). I've been to the Knifemaker's Guild show the last two years, and it's a heck of a show! If you have a choice of one or the other, what would be your choice?
I have attended the Blade Show for the past four years now. After the first one, I just knew it was to become an annual event. Hopefully I will win the Lotto before the next one so that I can actually get everything I want from there.
If you are interested in Factory knives the Blade Show is a must. Plus you get many guild and non guild members. The BladeShow is about 6 times the size of the guild show.
If we can get the dinner for Friday that would be better. I will make more definite plans as we get closer.

Just to add a little more insentive - The Blade Show also "hosts" the Annual American Bladesmiths Society meeting, awards and banquet. Needless to say you will get to see some of the finest forged knives in the world at this show.
