It was great to get together with a few of the guys from this forum.
Jessica (wife) and I got to Jocks and Jills and just wandered around for a bit looking for Pen because he is the only one that I knew what he looked like. :)
After awhile I wandered over to two guys that had obviously just met...one guy was wearing a bando shirt so I figured it had to be someone from our group. It turned out to be Mark Nelson and (I hope I get it right) David (lions Roar).
Mark calls Pen and finds out he's on his way. We grab a table and check out the makers in the restraunt. Ed Fowler, the Jones brothers...
Pen arrived and we started passing around knives while waiting for the food. Pen showed us his rope cutting knife and the smaller damscus version of it that he is working on. It should be a good companion piece.
We got to check out the Green Coral knife. It has great grain structure in the coral. The damascus is pretty nice too.
He then brought out his file knife. It's just like the one he had a tang failure on. He showed us what he did to snap it in two. He was really torqueing it. I was waiting for it to snap in two also. But it held...a good solid knife with a well ground blade. razor sharp.
I passed around a couple of small fixed blades I had just bought that afternoon. A John Greco hunter and a small Arno Bernard with wart hog ivory scales.
We finished off the meal with our hopes and good wishes for Uncle Bill.
Here's a pic of (L to R) Mark, Pendentive, Shappa (Tom) and Lions Roar.

Hey Tom thanks for putting up the pic. It was great to get to meet everyone. I wish that it could have been for a longer amount of time and perhpas in a place where it would have been easier to talk. All in all a fun show and many, many nice knives. Seeing Pen's stuff was great, It is much nicer in person then it is just seeing the pictures on the net as you would expect. He is a nice guy that I think that I could talk knives and whatnot with for many a hour. Tom and Jessica seem to be very, very nice people (hope your trip home went well) as well as Lion's Roar, and let me add Lion's Roar lives up to his name. Loud, and talk, talk talk, man you could hear him across town...just joking on that David. Very soft spoken and polite, a honor to meet. Many thanks next year maybe we can hit up the belly dancing place. Mark

I was reading along thinking, "Was I loud?..." he he.

Thanks, I had fun too!

Next time we'll bring some khukuries to carve up dinner with.

Remember the look on the old man's face who walked past our table while Mark was testing out the Lil' Moby?

 :D

Still makes me smile.

Re: pic

Sheesh....I knew the shirt was pretty loud...but....Wow!....how did anybody miss me at the show?

:D

Mark - looks way too subdued in that pic. He's much more animated in person
Tom - spot on. (by the way....I picked up an Arno similar to yours...I'll post a pic later)
David - Is it just me? or does David look like one mean, tough sonofagun in that pic? Just waiting for somebody to say "Draw!"....:D

It's always nice to put faces to names....I'm like a broken record, but it's true...

Now whenever I read Mark's posts I remember that in real life...he doesn't actually have a tail...:D

:footinmou

Pen, Yep the shirt was loud. Everytime I looked your way I couldn't hear David! :D :footinmou Pen takes criticism and praise about his knives equally well. He's not (quite) the goof in his avatar :D
David looks like a tough guy and I'm sure could be  but he's a very soft spoken polite guy. The only guy that got a hug from my wife..lol
Mark lights up when he smiles. A good guy and finding some place to meet was really appreciated.

Now that we know what each other looks like it will be a lot easier. Next time we'll hit the bellydancing place. :p

Lifter...you're probably right :) ...my mind is a little fuzzy, after Blade (which is mind blowing just by its self) we went to Vegas of a few days before finally staggering home. Details get shuffled. I do remember seeing them tho :D

Lifter is right. We have never been in Jocks & Jills. Maybe your brains were as overloaded as mine was. Way too much going on to remember all the details.

Did you guys go to the Olde Mill Steakhouse on friday? We were there. The place was loaded with Blade Show people.
