It was great to get together with a few of the guys from this forum.
Jessica (wife) and I got to Jocks and Jills and just wandered around for a bit looking for Pen because he is the only one that I knew what he looked like.
After awhile I wandered over to two guys that had obviously just met...one guy was wearing a bando shirt so I figured it had to be someone from our group. It turned out to be Mark Nelson and (I hope I get it right) David (lions Roar).
Mark calls Pen and finds out he's on his way. We grab a table and check out the makers in the restraunt. Ed Fowler, the Jones brothers...
Pen arrived and we started passing around knives while waiting for the food. Pen showed us his rope cutting knife and the smaller damscus version of it that he is working on. It should be a good companion piece.
We got to check out the Green Coral knife. It has great grain structure in the coral. The damascus is pretty nice too.
He then brought out his file knife. It's just like the one he had a tang failure on. He showed us what he did to snap it in two. He was really torqueing it. I was waiting for it to snap in two also. But it held...a good solid knife with a well ground blade. razor sharp.
I passed around a couple of small fixed blades I had just bought that afternoon. A John Greco hunter and a small Arno Bernard with wart hog ivory scales.
We finished off the meal with our hopes and good wishes for Uncle Bill.
Here's a pic of (L to R) Mark, Pendentive, Shappa (Tom) and Lions Roar.
