I had the distinct pleasure of meeting several gentleman with very fine products today: Ernie Emerson, Cormac and Mick from Strider, and Rob Simonich.
Ernie Emerson, and his assistant Jason, are two very knowledgeable people, who are true gentlemen. I spent the bulk of my time at his table. He is generous with information, and has no pretentions about him. He knows his stuff. Mr. Emerson is a true martial artist and I hope to be in one of his classes very soon.
Jason, regards to our comrades at the Gracie Academy, good training you guys, keep Dale and Byron honest so they can kick my butt.
Cormac and Mick from Strider. 2 other gentleman. I hope all of you have a chance to see their demo of blades. They make a hell of a hard use blade. They are very generous with information, and I hope to own one of their blades, soon. Very impressive selection of many different types of blades. Those guys have used their considerable experience and developed some very fine knives.
Last, but not least, Rob Simonich. A real pleasure to meet as well. Rob is one of the people at the heart of the Talonite revolution and he makes some very fine blades.
Of particular note is the Nordooh. Very good balance (to me anyways) for a big knife. The Parasite is a very useful little utility blade.
Rob's Cetan's are also very nice utility blades with some very nice kydex work done.
I hope that those of you considering buying knives that you are wiling to use would consider buying knives from any of these fine people. They are worthy of our patronage.
Of course, I have my biases. I am not into art knives, but saw some very beautiful pieces.
Some people have a "This forum v. That forum complex." There's room for everyone.
I like Mad Dog Knives. I also had a blast at Knifegnugen, Please look into Kevin McClung's blades, especially his Mirage X. Mirage X is revolutionary to say the least.
Mad Dog is a terrific host. He is also worthy of our patronage.
I can't write enough about Kevin's knives and how much regard I have for them, or the other makers. I either own them, or will be owning them in the future and hope some of you will also look into their work product.
