Blade Show Info

Thank you for setting the record straight / 18+ to enter.
Winning a Hinderer at Blade is an indescribable experience for an adult. When someone from the age of say 7-18 wins a Hinderer, the Hinderer name all of a sudden will be remembered for the rest of the child’s life. It’s huge for a child to win such an item. Especially when they beat out an adult. The Blade mag at last year’s Blade show featured an article about bringing up new blade entuhistist and the child pictured, holding a knife was about 7 or 8. All this being said, on our drive to Blade last year, The Hinderer drawing was the main topic of our discussion. My son was like; if I win again this year I hope to get drawn soon enough to get a small carbon fiber. He wanted a new EDC. When my kids arrived and were told that this year they could not enter, it was as traumatic on the down side as winning was on the up side. They did get over it but they were stunned. However they participated in other makers auctions with no problem. For about 6 years they were allowed to enter the Hinderer auction and then all of a sudden for some unknown reason they were not. If the official Blade Show rule is 18+ then everyone should follow the 18+ rule. Hinderer is the only auction we have participated in that has this restriction. My son has bought many a knife at the Blade Show and he’s just 12.

Rules are rules...laws influence rules.

I'm glad your children have a love for knives, many of us did in our youth.

It's a general rule that knives are sold to adults, many states pass even more restrictions. If you want to gift a youth a knife, good on ya....I do the same.

If the child can carry a knife in your area, that's cool. If there is a law preventing this and it being broken that's not cool. Can cause a ton of unnecessary problems. And I'm sure (unless home schooled) the children likely cannot bring knives to school.

There was also a really nice deep swedge spanto with ano LBS and CF...one of my favorites!:D
