this one has amazing mammoth bark ivory - green and blue like I have never seen (pics do not even come close to showing the scales)
awesome grind. tapered tang - flawless
Killer little fixed blade, with gold pins and diamond in the damascus blade.
black lip MOP with Celtic engraving over gold leaf. file worked dovetailed liner.
totally perfect - this one won "best art knife" at the Wolverine show
I use one of his as my working hunt blade and had to say hi and let him know how much I like using his skinner hunter. Wasn't planning on buying anything from him. But this one was like calling my name. Titanium and gold file work, titanium skull crusher with abalone - purple heart handle and just a super light and ergonomic feel. Theuns "tin-US" is a great guy too. Super fun to talk hunting with.
Tom Ferry custom Damascus and gold "Hannya" tanto folder.
The engraving on this one is insane. The geometric pattern on actually changes in the light from a "qbert" style to a basket weave. The Hannya demon is tearing its way out of the random damascus accented in gold and the eyes actually will flash at you in the appropriate lighting. perfect file and vine engaving throughout with gold stipple work at either end and a phenomonal, tightly patterend damascus blade.
1) Outstanding ivory on that first piece and overall looks very clean.
2) Jimmy Chin is doing some VERY nice work and I think you grabbed the choice pieces from his table.
3) I wanted that McIntyre fighter dammit.
4) And that Tomberlin piece - love the little detail groove on the ferrule - Brion was kind enought to tell me how he did that.
5) Love Mace's little utitlity.
6) Tom Ferry rocks.
Thanks Roger - I may be scrounging for wood grubs to put in my raman noodles and living in a van down by the river for the next few months after this one.
Love the ferrule treatment on the Chins,
that mammoth is incredible,
Shawn's work has been worthy of the MS for a long time,
Brion is just a hell of a nice guy, isn't he? His knife ain't to shabby either.
Not much of a folder guy but these are all...I'm speechless.
Here's a beautiful classic Warenski that Bob Betzner obtained at the Blade Show.
Love this set. Notice how well the guard marries up with the throat of the sheath.
Awesome knives and the Warenski is beyond that.
At Blade it is tough for me to even bother Coop, he is amazing to watch though - 100 % focus on each shot (and I am not just talking about the lens ).
Did not pick up anything fixed this year, (but one is coming that should be pretty good in a year or two.)
Tony Bose: (got lucky again at the drawing).
Kit Carson:
Ryuichi Kawamura (teardrop trapper).
Johnny Stout (stag whittler) Cockroachfarm is getting the Dr. Knife and he is going to be a happy camper! Missed him this year, but it is good to hear that he is on the mend.
Amherst Cutlery - Custom prototype:
One more from Mike Zscherny that Coop shot. I'll post it later on once I have the nerve to bother Jim for it.
