Blade Show questions...

My wife and I are hoping to attend this years Blade Show. Planning on the first two stops to be the Busse and Hinderer booths. We're planning on getting the passes that allow us in 2 hours before the opening of the show to the public. My questions are:

1. Are all exhibitors selling to the general public at this show?

2. How quickly do the hogs empty out the Busse booth? Are there different blades for sale on different days?

3. Is it generally cash only sales or do most of the companies take credit cards?

4. We attend the ECCKS and NYCKS pretty regularly for the last few years, and will be going again in March...Blade is just way beyond these right? Meaning worth the expense of hotel, airfare etc.

Looking forward to any advice or help we can get...

Mods, I wasn't sure exactly where to put this, so please move if this is not the right place...

1. I believe so. Certainly most do sell there. Just remember that some manufacturers that rely on a dealer system will sell at their prices (MSRP), not the usual lower prices you might find through their dealers.

2. Busse spreads out the offerings over the 3 days to give everyone a chance at something. Also, there may be pre-orders on certain models.

3. Cash is king, but some manufacturers take cards, some custom makers might accept a check, and although I haven't done this, PayPal might be accepted by a few. PP Mobile is a free app for your phone.

4. Only been to ECCKS once (met ya there! :)), but BLADE is MUCH larger, plus I believe there is a tactical show attached to the convention at the same time. Pretty sure you only need entry into the Blade Show to access this other part of the show.

Now is a good time to book a room. This year is different as a third party company seems to be handling reservations. I tried to book through Marriott Reservations and was told I had to book through EventSphere, LLC. Check this link for details and contact info:

PLEASE NOTE: The Cancellation Policy on my reservation email shows that you must cancel 7 DAYS prior to your first night or you forfeit one night. This is a change from the old 72hr. cancellation policy from years past.

The Renaissance Waverly Hotel is the closest hotel to the Cobb Convention Center, they are attached and you can go back & forth without having to even step outside. BLADE convention room rates look to be $170 + taxes per night this year at the Waverly. There are other hotels nearby, and probably a little less per night.

Hope this helps, and hope to see ya there! :)

I have never been able to buy a knife at the Spyderco booth. Only one that I know of. They exhibit a lot of prototypes, pending models, etc. and probably take dealer orders. It may be that they have never had multiples of the things I wanted, though.

Also, there are a few well-known (read legendary) makers that have few knives and sell the ones they bring through a lottery system. But don't worry, there will be more knives for sale than you can even look at in three days.

For Hinderer, if they do the same thing as last year, they will have a certain time when they release the lottery tickets and they have a limited number (400 each day last year). Then you must be present to win and they only take cash. They do a lottery on Friday and Saturday. Blade show is HUGE and worth attending.

Thanks for all the info folks! Jaxx, I do remember meeting you at that show! The wife has booked the flights and reserved the rooms! We'll be at the Courtyard Marriot, getting in on Thursday early afternoon. Looking forward to seeing the show and the folks we get to meet from the Forum here. Planning to attend the Hinderer lottery...(of course!)

Awesome and good luck at the Busse booth and Hinderer lottery. I scored last year in the Friday lottery. Snagged the last 24 non flipper production off the table. Had to have one after checking out Jaxx's 24 flipper Thursday morning :D

IIRC Joyce said they may be selling at Blade this year.

Fyi, jus booked my room at the hampton across the street from the mall (there is also one within the mall that costs more) for $260 done from thurs to sun. King bed, nice rooms, microwave n fridge. 10/15 min walk to the show or a cpl min drive. Rates will certainly go up everywhere once it gets closer to show time. Booking early = more knife fundage : )

We had a fantastic year last year. Scored a XM-18 flipper at the Hinderer lottery and won a free Hawkeye's Dagger and NMFSH at the Busse booth!

That's awesome! This year, I'm hoping to score either a Jeremy Marsh Vanquish with choil or Emerson CQC-6 :D Not sure about Busse's and will have to see when it gets closer

Hmm...don't you think that "fantastic" doesn't even come close to describe the "awesomeness" of that cluster of wins?!?!?!? ;) :D

The only thing I did different at Blade last year was take my wife instead of my shooting buddy. She must carry all of the luck in the family.

Fact, Blade last year was great for you

Blade is totally worth it.
