Blade Show Spydies

That would just plain peeve me off...

I would not likely EVER go to that dealer again...I can understand impulse purchases as well...you don't know if it will be there later etc...sometimes you just have to do your homework...as long as you're happy though...nothing else matters. Enjoy your knife.

Yeah bro, i just figured by the time i walked around i wouldnt see that again so i just went ahead and picked it up. Oh, and believe i gave him hell today. He said, well it cost me full retail for one. So you charge me 140 more? But he did give me the m390 CF millie for 260 and the Ti for 200 so i did pretty decent

Is the new spyderco flipper coming out a sprint? I just checked the knife out and I love it

I missed seeing it. When I went by it was off being entered for one of the awards.

I was curious why they would make a flipper. While I like the idea, it doesn't seem needed.
So I asked Sal. Simple answer from him that is hard to argue with...his customers wanted it.

Did see and handle a Native 5 with what I believe we call a fluted handle. That thing was GORGEOUS, the action and lock were perfect.
Definitely on my must have list.

Seriously, i payed 290 for mine..Yep, i definitely got screwed. Still happy to get one though

Wow. I guess I really got lucky. I checked today and they only had one left, but it was for display only.
290 does sound high, but haven't a number gone for that much or more on ebay?
Considering the extremely high demand for them and how quickly they disappeared, I can't fault the dealer too much.

Thats true man, but i got mine on friday when it opened, i was the first there but oh well...i still got one. so i am happy!! i think my favorite purchase so far was the yojimbo 2! This thing is so so sweet

did any of you guys check to see if the yojimbo 2 is going to start being more readily available? I have been waiting FOREVER

If you keep an eye on this forum's exchange you can find some great deals.

I recently bought the M390 Military for 185 and have a slightly used Ti Military with XHP swapped in for 150 which I am waiting for in the mail.

I bought a Yojimbo 2 at the Blade show. Eric Glass showed it to me. And I talk to Michael Janich about the design. I also got a cool free little Spyderco tote and pin from Eric. The Spyderco folks are outstanding people.

I got a really great deal on a CE Ocalot,I have had a plain edge sense they came out.I was looking for a blue para military but never saw one.

I was bored today so I randomly browsed through Blade HQ's spyderco section and when I got to the Yojimbo 2 it said "in stock"; I jumped on it right away. Unfortunately it seems like I took the last one, now it says "out of stock".

I wonder why this knife is out of stock everywhere, it's not like it's a sprint run.

I think that flipper is going to be a HUGE seller! Just when I think Spyderco has perfected the folding knife (Para 2) they find a way to entice me again.

The more I think about the more I am convinced the logo really is a tick---sucking the dollars out of my wallet.

Who's that?

Production schedules is usually why these things happen. They don't run the factory 24/7/365, and most if not all manufacturers with multiple offerings run production by schedules. With all the sprints, and older regular production models (Manix2, Military, Para2, Native, etc.) it makes sense to fulfill orders and stay current. ALso, I think I recall reading that the QC for all overseas models from Japan and Taiwan is done in Golden.

What Rev said plus it seems to be one of those designs at the right price point that everyone (including me) wants. So they are getting snapped up as soon as they are in stock.

Like you say, its not a sprint, so I'm willing to be wait (like I have a choice), it isn't like I don't have another knife. ;)

That would also be my prediction too.
Not sure a Spyderco "needs" a flipper, and it may not appeal as much to Spydie addicts but they will probably want one anyway. It should also draw in the new customers who have been asking for or wanting a flipper.

Only negative comments I have seen so far were based on price. Apparently someone put it up on pre-order for $250 (no clue if that is at all an accurate street price) and some find that way too high.
Seems a tad high to me, but I haven't even seen it yet or anything on the steel and materials.

The more I think about the more I am convinced the logo really is a tick---sucking the dollars out of my wallet.

Whenever I show a new Spyderco to one of my non-knife friends the always ask why the tick logo.
But its a friendly little tick, it doesn't suck my money unless I ask it too. :D

The Southard also has that cool ball bearing pivot - which I believe is the first Spydie to use it.
