Blade Show Texas

I went today. Got in at about 10:35a. Walked the whole floor about three times in an hour but wound up leaving empty handed this year. Nothing grabbed my attention enough to make me buy on the spot.

They barely check admission wristbands. Sidenote, I went to a Blade West show in Long Beach, Ca, and they had metal detectors at the entrances....

The way it should work is they bounce you if you don't set off the metal detector, because what self-respecting person would show his face at Blade without one?

Just got home from show. Good show for the stuff I like.

I went yesterday. Bought a couple of knives. A hunting knife and an automatic.

Heard there were a few blades stolen from tables this year. Handle suppliers had some of their samples stolen, too. Is this a normal thing at knife shows? Last one I went to was Timonium back in the early 2000's and most tables had people there keeping an eye on the stuff! I guess with a ton of people at a table, it's hard to keep track of each knife!

Aw man. That is shitty if true. It was packed on Friday. I can only imagine what Saturday was like. A lot of the major players such as Case, Spyderco, Boker, and Hogue (as I recall off the top of my head) kept all their knives under glass. You had to ask to see one from a rep who would hand to you and watch you fiddle with it.

On Saturday, they issued a warning regarding thievery over the P.A. system.
