Potentially interesting and not so interesting opinionated highlights:
-CRK had a special run of the older style large Sebenzas for the show. They were made from surplus parts left over prior to the handle and blade change (in '94?). The blade is a bit longer and much better looking than the newer style and they're ATS34 not the current BG42.
-Camulus had a sample of their new Bob Terzuola designed fixed blade.
-Allen Elishewitz and Pat Crawford had several versions of the new Janus. Its a very tempting design. I would've picked up the least decorated Elishewitz version but I've been avoiding folders w/blades less than 4". Also I fear the wifes frying pan. Although, had the blades been a proper 4" or longer that fear would've evaporated. Allens rendition, for the $$, seemed like a better value than Pats (opinion only).
-Saddle Knives had a new folder (called the "DOG"(?)) that used a lock similar to that of the Benchmade Axis but was much beefier and used a single coil spring instead of the dual omega. These knives were fun to manipulate and have a lot of potential. They were a bit clunky and the blades were too short though(Opinion). Price was $400 (they were prototypes but there were quite a few); frame was/is aluminum w/choice of handle material.
-Smoking Hole was there w/their huge, kinda clunky folders. Its an experience just to hold one. A friend I was with couldn't stop laughing so we had to high-tail-it. At least they were different.
-Spyderco and Chai Cutlery (James Mattis) were the only ones w/the Spyderwrench, neither was selling theirs of course. This thing is gonna be a boon for Spyderco provided they can get them out.
-Rob Simonich was there w/some well executed knives. The Carnivore he made w/Talonite blade was better (smoother, etc)than the other versions of the knife that were at the show. He probably put a lot more work into it though. He also had a decent supply of Talonite stock for sale. Its expensive stuff but I bought a piece to mess up anyway.
-Vince Evans and his wife Grace were there w/a variety of different knives. The interesting thing about Vince is that all his stuff is different, ranging from Persian to Bowies to Swords. I supposing being a forger as opposed to a grinder/machinist will do that.
-Marzitelli Custom knives had some good quality "tacticals" that had some interesting handles and for the $$ they seemed like a decent value. They were relatively beefy but not the usual run of the mill either.
-REKAT had some SIFUs for sale. I like the length and the recurve but the blade spine is a little strange, even "Hibbenesque."
They had some Carnivore 2nds which were a good value.
I'm sure theres more, thats all I can remember now.
