Blade Show - Who (and what) are going?!

Who will be attending. Interested to meet some fellow Fluffer fans.

Also, what knives will be down there? How will we be able to buy? First come first serve, or will it be auction only?

Trying to plan out the weekend. Thanks.
 
Atlanta is too far to justify a shopping trip for this Fluffer fan :( . Knife shows should be about the same, of which I have only attended local ones: Plaza Cutlery Custom Knife Show a.k.a California Custom Knife Show, SHOT and The Gathering. It is almost always first come, first serve with auctions and giveaways in between. Blade should not be much different...
 
I'm tentative, but the likelihood grows less each day. As the renovations drag on way over budget, my car is being unexpectedly bought back by the dealer and will need to be replaced and my wife wants to have a meeting shortly, to decide if we will have another kid.

Might have to make a trip to the gathering, as it's much cheaper to get there.
 
Wish I was going, but nope not this year. You guys have fun and take a bunch of pictures to share please!
 
I agree with Adam that most of it is conducted as first come first served. I have never been to knife shows but I used to go to plenty of automotive industry related trade shows. I can tell you that most vendors do first come first served and I don't see many trade shows operating on different principles despite entirely different merchandise in different industries. A word to the wise though, you may make a looong arse trek, get to the show as one of the earliest ones and get inside like a bat outta hell (bat into hell?) faster than anyone else but... Some disappointment may set it simply because vendors always scout other vendors' wares before any general public admittance and some of the really good stuff could already be gone depending on a certain vendor's popularity and also the range of his products at the show. This had happened to me plenty of times at the trade shows I used to go to.

Justin: that last sentence in your first paragraph, sounds just so romantic :D

Probably won't make Blade this year due to a busy schedule but if I do it will be at the last minute.
Love going to Blade, seeing all the knives and attending demonstrations, always a good time.

shucks, we were just outside this frame on the right. watching this. It was cool to see.
 
I'll be there! It'll be my third year in a row attending. If I remember correctly most if not all of the CPK knives are FCFS, but it might be different if he has something extra special. At any rate, I'm sure Nathan will let us know.

Certainly a lot of makers will have some FCFS knives, but most of the customs I'm hunting will only be offered through lottos and open / closed bids.
 
I really want to know what will be FCFS so I know which booth to hit first thing on Friday. If CPK won't be offering anything FCFS, I'll go to another booth first. I'm going to Blade for the experience and to get away. However, if I left with a light chopper, I would be fairly happy. :)
 
I'm wavering on attending on Friday - it depends on my work travel schedule and workload. I'm just down the road as well, though, so no complicated planning required.
 
We will be there and it is FCFS. We are at table 6D. Can't wait to see everyone! It gets better every year.

You know, I kept looking at those photos before and then kept thinking that the guy with the straw sunhat and the flowing mane ( ;) ) resembled Nathan but then thought, nah most likely a doppelganger! Then you must be the one in the gray sunhat!
