Blade Show Yesterday....a couple of random thoughts

The lines to get in did seem longer this year and the ABS side of the show was crowded.

I was very busy, actually this was my best show ever. Good to see some of you guys there.

I thought this show was much better than last year. I had a great time and got some nice mammoth ivory and desert ironwood.

And you actually had a lot to choose from this year, especially when it came to ironwood. I heard that Don spent the profits from his last 2 years and next 3 years of knifemaking on a footlocker full of walrus ivory:D

I have attended every Blade Show since it came to Atlanta and this one was by far the least attended of any I went to. I get there ahead of time and utilize an exhibitor's pass to scope things out. Usually the swarm hits like a tidal wave when they let the folks with VIP passes in at noon.....you didn't even notice it this year when they came in! I would roughly estimate (of course it's only my opinion) that the crowd was about half of the usual at the noon VIP rush...

As I understand it, the VIP passes were done differently this year and VIP's were lined up like general admissions. One of our VIP's called from the line and asked for help. My wife went to the office where our envelopes were held, got the passes and got our VIP's in. some of our vip's I didn't see and i worry if they had just too much trouble.

Someone else relayed to us that they were in line before noon and didn't get in until 2:10 and they wore a vip pass.

maybe they could send exhibitors the passes, we send them on to the majority of the folks. then, they could send on to the show and be pre-registered. i don't know, but there's got to be something better.

just my 2 cents as i took it,
eddie

Man - Mace, your work was sweet brother. To see you smile at my work was one of the biggest, non spoken pat on the back I got this weekend:thumbup:
Great to meet you!

Brian, It was nice to have met you too. Sorry I didn't stay and chat longer. Your knives looked great...very user friendly from what I saw.
