Busy, seriously. How about they put out the effort to promote the product that we buy. If BCCI can afford to go to the show so can Buck. Like I said earlier lame!

I personally believe them being at the shows is more than just about the sales at the shows. Them having a presence at the shows and talking to the people promotes Buck during as well as after the shows and gets people
talking about Buck knives as well as making relationships. Since the BCCI is at these shows anyway I believe Buck is using them to make a showing for them. My personal experience at the Oregon show is that many
people coming up to the BCCI tables ask where Buck is, they talk about meeting Chuck, Joe, and others and miss seeing them. Many also think that we (the BCCI) are from Buck or at least are there to represent them.
We make it clear that we do not work for Buck but we do try to represent them as good as we can. I am guessing that this is true at the other shows as well.

James, I was not talking about sales at the show. I was talking about overall sales for buck for a year. If they attend, did the sales increase after for the company. If they did not attend (booth) did overall sales drop? Better believe the company bean counters and marketing group already know the answer. Like I said it would be nice to know the answer as to why no booth.

I thought it odd the club is in the lobby and not on the main floor. Not sure what that means?

John, I don't know what this means either. But Chuck always had a block of tables set aside for 'the collectors' to bring their collections and display them on the main floor.
With the ruling and election of the club going to just those that attend the Blade Show. Some items occur: 1) only those that attend may vote, 2) a small sampling gets to make key decision, 3) many of us members may never get to vote. 4) thus finical decisions are made toward the outlay of the knives the Club offers and some of us don't purchase the end product. As It's To Early suggested. Whereas SK knives did a poll. Has anyone contacted you for a proxy vote? When officers are elected say to head up the 'share holders group' for a company. Each share holder is sent a ballot, with a list of officers running so they may have a vote and a say. I don't think we need to do a mail out but a email would cost little. These are merely examples to mull over. DM

David, I'm happy we are both wondering about the placement of the BCCI tables in the lobby of the Blade show. But I'm a bit confused by your addressing me with your 4 bullet points as I agree with Armands points. These suggestions need to be sent to the club officers for consideration of amending the club rules pertaining to these issues.

I have never attended a BCCI event as they are too far from my home. Same thing with the knife shows, I have never been to one. The two shows on this coast are 6-8 hours from me. However, every time the shows timing have been in direct conflict with life. Maybe the BCCI 30th event will be the first, if life events don't get in the way again.

Pretty sure the main reason why they were in the lobby is because Blade jacked the table prices way up to be in the main halls. Wouldn't make much since to pay $600-$1000 or more per table if you aren't selling knives.

Just curious, so do non vendor displayers such as BCCI pay for tables at Blade? If so, does the Club pay or are the individual displayers responsible to pay for their tables? What does it cost?

John, I didn't mean to include that together. Only the first 2 sentences were directed in answer to your inquiry.
DeSoto, club members have never paid for the table space to display at the Blade Show. That cost was covered by Buck. Not the Club. Just the way Chuck did it for us. We merely called Joe Houser in advance and he put us on the list to display. I wouldn't doubt the half tables to display on ran 100$. If we display at a different show We cover the cost. DM

Agreeing with some other points: For us to go to Atlanta and get to vote, it's a 3 day drive. With additional traveling cost associated. Same thing for us to go to Post Falls. This is why I do my part in my area (as much as I can) for the Club and Buck. We usually do 4 shows. Getting some recognition out there. For us to attend a bigger regional show, it is 300 miles to Albuquerque or 175 to Tucson. Dallas could work at 750. DM

I did not go to Blade Show this year because tree broke apart in yard from storm and I could not get it taken care of in time.
Also, while I was at shooting contest last Sat., our ATM card got left in the machine and it was five hours before it was mentioned to me. I used the national 800 number found on the back of any card to close the account and when bank opened on Tuesday all was well. Had planned to leave Wed. morning (2 day drive for over 60s). So I was not there to give you scoop as in past.

Before all this I suggested that there be another person take my position on the Board of Directors, as no man is an island, and a little change is good for the soul. I felt we and I should be a representative of a non-tweeting transition. I am still on the Idaho planning committee which is just starting to get going, check new newsletter for info and Berts article on 300s.

As I understood it Blade gave BCCI free tables and would again just not in the main room where they could and did sell all spots to commercial vendors. Who have first priority. Last year the Russian just a row over from BCCI tables started Vodka time at 2:00 pm. This year BCCI and Case and a few other clubs were moved into foyer. Special security was provided. But, I hope it turned out well as some grumbling was going on in emails. As far as I know, Buck has never paid for BCCI tables but CJ and Chuck regularly picked up one nights dinner tab for club displayers. An accompanied us as a group to dinner. I imagine the same happened this year. One year Joe H. and wife and myself and wife sat together and ate in a booth when all table spots were taken. You know, we talked about vacations and bow hunting and only a little Buck history as I remember it. The company and Joe H. provided special knives, some JH handmade and sold them at the BCCI meeting to benefit the club. He also made all the displayer award knives. Again, it is my opinion that Buck choose not to go to Blade because they get more bang for the Buck (ha) from a big expensive booth production at the SHOT show and NRA meetings. You will also notice this direction by Bucks sponsoring some outdoor TV shows. I also think that there are so many knives for sale at the Blade show that Buck did not cover their cost of shipping materials , knives and bringing half a dozen people to work the booth. CJ and Lori Buck were scheduled to have a table to sit at and sign knives in the BCCI area this year.

David M. and I had our hopes dashed several years ago when Bruce Voyles pulled his show out of DFW. TX. after one year. I had already got BCCI to send me a big banner and I had made a tall banner stand out of PVC pipe. DM, EEE, HKingdom and others had committed to me to bring a display. A real disappointment for the SW USA collectors. Nothing really exists for collectors in the middle of the US. DM must pay for his table at the Las Cruces show. Even the big Tulsa Wannmacher Gun show would charge us for tables, even when they had empty and we were NOT even going to sell club knives. Business is business. Life goes on. Someone win the lottery and start your own show.

As for voting issue if you don't email, write or call club officers listed in the newsletter how are they going to know how you feel ? Just writing it here is not going to cut it.

They sell million of knives. More than most even in a down year. Im sure they have their reasons.

Revenue $50 to $100 million (USD) per year

Per the new BCCI newsletter I received today Buck didn't have a booth last year either so this isn't necessarily something new. I just didn't know so I started this thread. Certainly didn't intend for it to lead to folks questioning Buck's businesses plan.

300, you lead me to believe no other BCCI board members read on this site. Too bad. DM

Don't let me lead you. Some do but not daily. Some only infrequently, but most lurk so you never know their here. Larry O. reads and occasionally posts. Remember Buck forums is about Buck knives but still is a private forum company. Not a BCCI item. Go to the BCCI facebook page or the e-site to get actual BCCI word. I have a foot in both ponds so to speak. But, you see me quote Blade Forum rules because that is who lets us be here doing this and the other spots we read. Maybe they count on me to tell them what is going on, but stuff like getting to vote folks need to be saying what they feel on their own. I am not a firebrand, more like a wet match..... 300

Thats the point ....not too busy or money issue.

I was hoping this was going to be a report on the show, with lots of photo's:(

I usually do that, guess I will hope someone went and took photos and will eventually show them. Post #13 had some, I noticed John Foresman customs display, and Larry Odens. not sure on other couple.

At their annual Spring show in Novi, MI; the Wolverine Knife Collector's Club rents out tables for vendors and for displayers. The display tables are 1/2 price.

I see their facebook page is not very active. Are there any BCCI members or buck displays at this show. I'm guessing it is quite small.
