Here are some Blade Show photos. As a first timer I have a lot to consider and relay. Keep checking in will make about four entries in this thread.

Here are a few photos with comments, more to come, as soon as I can, for you guys without patience, jeez I just got home this afternoon after 754 mile drive (one way). I think the sewer may need rotorooting....oh well. Here you go......300Bucks

Brent Schindewolf's Best of Blade Show and Best of Buck Competition. Brent's first Blade Show.

334Dave and the velvet 110 Army.....I mean NAVY.

Clinton Meier aka Bucksway Buck Competition Award winner for Custom 112s

Gene Merritt's 110 YellowHorse Display. David YellowHorse was in the BCCI area many times and anyone coming to show had oppurtunity to talk to him.

Larry Oden's display, always the example of what a display should be.

Suffering spouses....more on that in my narrative to come.

Second installment: More photos of displays, almost half of the displays were first timers, several folks who had displayed in the past just came and gave support and let the newbies have a table. We are given tables by the Blade Show but there is a limit. If you think you want to come and join in next year, make the decision soon and let the Club President know. Also as soon as you decide to go and are alotted a table space make sure you are constructing your display. Don't do like someone who will not be named, he waited till after Mother's Day to start and it was a Mother to get done in time. Or so I heard or something like that.
300

Dan Rickman's display

Glen Graham left and Eddy Birdwell right.
Eddy flew in from Texas and brought one small case, a first timer and like all the other recruits he was welcomed with open arms.
We all went out to eat as a group every night. Sat by different people every time and told wild tales......well some of us did...

Club President John Foresman's display, John's whole family comes and takes part. So could yours. You BCCI guys pay your dues in a little cash, John and some more pay more than that in their sweat and grit. A LOT of work goes on behind the scenes of the show, seminars, meetings, newsletter and website. Thanks John and other folks for your precious time.

Alan Horner's nice display. Crosslocks came in lots of variety.

Third installment, maybe last - I hear the clapping......no one more probably

I think what is going to happen is that you guys west of Denver are going to develop the Oregon knife show into your Blade Show. And everyone else will have to travel to Altanta. Since there are more BCCI members east than west the clubs twenty tables will always be in demand.

As a first timer, Larry Oden asked me "How do you like it ?" I replied "I am still taking it all in"....which was a little cop-out but was also true. I am still taking it in. I enjoyed building my display, I had to concentrate and create, I did not start early enough to do my best effort, but I enjoyed concentrating on it, even though I almost became a caffeine addict for two weeks. My wife was a good soldier and went with me and provided good help. I saw the other wives had done the same for 'their' display......As newcomers I appreciated the way we were welcomed into the old group. I enjoyed talking to the other club members, I enjoyed sitting by Joe Houser for two days. I enjoyed it when Chuck Buck came up to my display and told me a couple of historical stories on the 300 series. I enjoyed the club meeting and knife sale tornado....I enjoyed seeing the knife world as it exists at the national and international level. One thing that was typical of Buck knife collecting was there were not many knives to find to buy. The Blade show is orriented toward the custom maker and the manufactor, if you like that sort of thing you will be in hog heaven. I saved some money on a new Lansky knife sharpener. And found a almost new 121 for $35. One of the other guys found a yellow 301 ^ 1988, which he eventually sold to me without profit. Thanks Hkingdom. Would I go back, I would. I have enough knives I can make one or two more displays without repeating myself. I am retired but I still have time obligations that I have to work around. If there were closer shows that several BCCI were going to show up as a group, I might prefer to do a couple of smaller closer shows than one yearly big one. I just don't think I could go for two east coast shows in one year for a long continous period of years.
What's important everything worked out fine, I will have to pay back some wife credits, and I enjoyed the experience. You could also.....300Bucks

Mr. Murray Andrews, enjoyed talking to him and hope to see him before next blade show. Murray has seen 19 blade shows, next year you can come and celebrate his twenty year record.

Frank Meeks and Stag handles

Patrick Donovan had a reduced display, some of his display cases were recently damaged when his basement flooded.

Joe Houser's old hand made Buck case, several old hatchet/knife sets. A couple of times he opened his case and let us handle some of them......

Great displays all!! Now we need just one more photo, and that would be of that 300 slippie display. :)

Last installment of this thread. Somehow got off without photo of John Hunts display of Aurum etches. Which are the best etching of any knife blade I have seen, that a normal human could afford.... also didn't get a picture of the BCCI table, thanks to the ladies for their efforts and for seaching out a big enough T-shirt for me, the one with the old 301 magazine ad reprint on back. .....enjoyed visiting with Jack Foresman, I still think he gave up his table space for me to display........all in all, displaying at a knife show is interesting. You don't have to have a fancy collection. A small group of knives in one nice case or two is fine. Go for the fellowship and the education. If you don't want to do that go and just hang out in the BCCI area you are welcome to sit down and visit and ask as many questions as you got. Be aware the Blade Show is the Mother of all knife shows, the regional shows are a much slower and smaller arena.
Once I get over the memory of the two day drive to and from Atlanta I will probably say I will go next year and begin to "upgrade" my display for next year during the hot outside summer months, hopefully not waiting till the Monday after Mothers Day to start, but my brother-in-law says the bass are hitting, oh well.......300

Jimmy Holbrooks "500s". Was jealous of Jimmy he only lived an hour away.

Ok, Tin I will include my display of 300s. Limited it to 1966 thru 1989, The Brass liner Era....

Craig,
Your commentary on the show and the displays is outstanding. It was a pleasure to have you and all of the others together for fellowship. As several of us were standing around discussing specific characteristics of various models, I told a friend that this was my favorite part of the Blade Show (or any show). Even if you are new and just starting to learn, you will observe veteran collectors also learning new things from the discussion. I think we should re-name the Blade Show. Brent won so many display categories, the show could have been called the Schindewolf show!!

It seems that you had a nice time in Atlanta. I would give a lot to come to the knife show. But the pilot of my private jet has vacancies in the moment. So I was not albe to come. You can believe it. ;) :)

I asked 334dave to say hi to all the Buckaroos I know or I met in Idaho last year. I hope he did. But if he forgot one or two here are my special greetings to all I know. And I hope it was not the last time I was able to come to a Buck meeting in the great United States.

Best,
Herbert

CH...fantastic thread...great pics & commentary....for a brief moment...I was there! Someday...someday...I really would enjoy being at the Blade Show, and maybe displaying a few Bucks, Thanks 300!

Ok,
To bring the story full circle, will break down and show my blade show booty, knives that is....post barrel nut 121 unsharpened, decent sheath, but double red micarta spacers (yes it's not a 300 but I like to cut game and kitchen meat with them, but this one may get set back) and a 301 ^ 1988 in Yellow.
Everyone needs to go at least once......remember 'no man knows the day' don't put off living for life......300
