I've never been to Blade Show, but seein as it's coming up...

Got any favourite pics from past shows? Funny stories? Life changing experiences? Reasons for going? Things you're looking forward to this year?

No pics or funny stories and I last went when the show was still in Knoxville. If you are a knife guy there is nothing like Blade, plan to spend the weekend and have the time of your life. Like Joe Ely says, the road goes on forever and the party never ends.

It's a long haul for me to get there but I just love it! I will be there again this year.:)

I know that a lot of folks at BFC have different thoughts, but to me the people in this community are it's most valuable asset. Others see the knives and that is all that counts. In my experience they are missing the best part. I am a better person because of the people I have met.

I have a lot of great pics of knives from 20 years of the Blade show. But here are just a few highlights for me because they represent friendships that are cherished.

Time is something I have not had much of over the last two years with my job and new business, but I will try to add more when I am at home.

Steven, I can not wait to see and spend time with you.

In short, more than anything, I am looking forward to spending time with people who mean a lot to me.

^^^^ Well said Gus!

Here's a fave pic of mine from the 2005 show - light saber versus katana:

Roger,
Looking forward to seeing you too. That picture of Steve and Bailey is priceless!!! Forgotten all about that one. I was with you when you shot it, if I am not mistaken.

Take a close look at that picture of Don, Bill and Margaret, in the background you will see Ken Onion (back) talking with the late Al Barton(vest) and on the right Dellana and Daniel Winkler sharing some laughter.

I still miss Bill and Margret, guess I always will.

It is THE Show. The Super Bowl of sharpened steel.

It is very re-assuring to know that there are so many crazy people who share your love of knives.

Correct you are, sir - looking forward to catching up with you at the show. Speaking of people who will be missed at the show - there is a palpable void with the passing of Bob Neal:

I will always remember my visits with Biil at Blade, even when I was a few pounds heavier!

Dave, I have some great shots of you and some pretty impressive show cases stashed away. :)
Looking forward to seeing you as always. It sure is hard to pass by Bill's table without a lot of great memories and in my case some extra water in my eyes. ;).

Margaret Moran was always one of my show highlights. Bob Neal always had a smile for you. Great memories Gus.

This will be my first time going and I'll be sitting behind a table, number 4CC. I'm sure looking forward to it, and hope that some of y'all will come by and say, "Hi!" :D

I miss Bailey, I think it's a shame that he doesn't make knives anymore. I was at Blade in 2008 and hope to come this year again. For me it's about the friendships and the knives.

As far as I know he only does guns nowadays. He closed down his "knife website" as well. I really think its a shame he stopped making knives. He really was very talented. I use to own a folder and a fancy Bowie of his (the latter being destroyed by Dutch customs....but that's an other story) and they oozed quality.

Great Photos Folks! My 1st & only (thus far) time was in '09. I took a break in my chemo (w/ the Oncologist's blessing) & went down w/ a couple of friends. Wound up (through a mixup @ the registration table) w/ an Exhibitor's Badge & received some unintentional preferential treatment. I had some photos, but they are trapped in a phone that went to meet the ancestors shortly afterward. Met some wonderful people, reconnected w/ others I hadn't seen since the NYC shows & had more than a couple of ill-advised cocktails in the Pit, saw a cool demo or two, & went home w/ a small pocketfull of $7.00 OTF autos (that promptly broke). Met more than a few of my knifemaker heroes, put some faces to names & generally was cheered up when I really needed some cheering up. Ate piggishly & well w/ some cool people & learned that a restaurant chock-full of knife folks (w/ toys on the tables) will eventually not freak out the servers & the management. The folks working the counter @ the hotel near the venue even stopped taking a step back from the desk when we stepped up to ask them questions. They gave us a lot of bacon for breakfast.
