Blade steel in DE razors

Does anyone know what kind of steel is typically used for DE blades? My Merkurs say stainless but that's all. It really doesn't matter unless you are a steel nut like me and you spend a lot of time thinking about such things :)
 
I haven't a clue but I do know that there are a number of blades considered to be superior to Merkurs (which, make great Razors though), Try Derby's Feathers (very sharp) or my favorite the Israeli Personna.
