Blade style question

What are some popular knives that are just art pieces, M marcinek ? I'm genuinely curious.

I would totally buy a borka blade if I could afford it, not for any hard use but I would definitely use and carry it. I always thought the price of them was because they were quality though, a bit disappointing if that's actually not the case.
I wouldnt say it's bad quality at all.

Depends what you mean by "art pieces."

Take Extrema Ratio. Sells well, utter nonsense designs as far as cutting goes. I wouldn't call them "art knives" though. Similarly for Dark Ops.

Then there are silly cheapo fantasy "wall hangers"...those sell...would call them art knives either.

"Art knives" don't sell a lot....very expensive. Trying to think of that guy who makes the crazy stag friction folders with the gargoyle faces carved into them...gorgeous art knives...totally unusable.

Larry Fuegen. Now he makes some art knives. Not even sure if it is possible to hold some of them in ones hand.

But, he has proven that he can make a simple, functional knife without any extraneous design elements. Guy can bring it either way.

Yikes... Never thought I'd see a knife like this

I don't see it over priced by much. If it's a custom it's not overpriced at all. If it's production then slightly over priced but if you want it, you'll pay it.

Its "uhep" in my opinion... Production.

How would you rate a borka blade? Overpriced but still quality?

Like any knife...they are not overpriced. People will pay for it, and do, so they are not overpriced. But they are not paying for materials and such....they are paying for the name and style.

Nothing wrong with that.

Could you buy a similarly styled, equally functional knife for way less? Of course. But you would not get a Borka.

On the topic of art knives:

Dylan Farnham and I designed this last year. I EDC it. Copper plated O-1 tool steel, held in the reverse grip. Useful for zipties and rope. Less useful for opening stuff but workable.

More man jewelery than anything I guess.

If you like stuff of this style, look up Sage Blades.

Oh I already know about sage blades and I really like their knives.

@1776 You are right that for that "style" of knife they do look like great ones. I've seen some pretty junky looking knives in that style.
