No blade swaps are available on 110 Folding Hunters until the end of January.
Blade swaps on 560 Titaniums and 426's will not be done any more.

If you call Buck and someone tells you that we can do a swap, they are wrong. I have informed everyone here that this service is on hold for now but you never know who you might reach when you call Buck and you might reach someone that does not know.
Not to sound harsh, I just dont want there to be any misunderstandings about this.

Offering blade swaps was something that I started a few years back, just because I thought it would be a cool thing to offer our customers. We have never advertised it in our catalogues, it has always been a best kept secret kind of thing.
I encountered oposition at the plant because doing this obviously takes away from potential Custom Shop orders but I insisted and took care of the requests through my repairs department.

They are on hold because I am currently behind about a week in the repairs department. This is the department where all the warranty repairs are done. It is hunting season and we get a lot of knives in this time of year.
Doing the blade swaps takes extra time because they are like a fish swimming against the current here as far as how they are processed. The only reason I do them at all is because, like I said above, it is a very cool thing to offer and I can tell that a lot of guys and gals love the idea of retrofitting their favorite old 110 with a new high tech blade. It definetely is not a money making venture but it makes me feel good about my job to be able to offer this when I can. Hopefully, by the end of January, I will be posting that the blade swaps are again available and I will have a list of the blade steels available too.
I'm very sorry to have to cut this service off for now.

Why not make this a "sticky", Joe??? The question comes up often...then take it down when the freeze is over...and post a "Upgrades Available" thread...

Joe,
Thanks for the information. You probably saved Sparky several gigs worth of server space with all the inquiries you answered. :D
Mike

Crud, I just bought a 560 with a broken tip (described by seller as such) on ebay.

Thanks for the update Joe, and Thanks for having initiated the service in the first place. You're right about it being a "cool service", I can't think of any other manufacturer that has offered a "send your knife back for a blade upgrade" deal.
I'm just glad to have gotten the ones I did. Take a break, and have a Merry Christmas

well joe i want to thank you for all you have done so far for all of us...
cheers for ya! hip hip huray !
like i and so many of the others have told folks: you jest wont find another fine knife company that will take care of its customers and fans like your company DOES! it truly is a thing of the past with the rest of the country! and CJ and the board of Buck should be gald they have such a fine customer relations manager that loves the customers being happy as you do!

but some how for some reason, i had always thought it was only avable to bcci members ...
thought only a minor reason for joining it was some thing i thought about as that it was a bennie of joining the club! dont matter i would have joined anyway!!! was jest easer to talk my self in to it with that as a bennie!

and we look foward to hearing that you will again next year! so ...
from us to you ...
Thanks JOE !

Sorry, I should have said thanks for the service which has been available, not just complaining. The blade exchanges are so far ahead of what we get elsewhere, so it's wonderful to have that kind of thing available at all.

Joe, you have always been willing to work with us and to make Buck great, at least since around 1997 when I first ran into you on the Internet, and of course I am sure before then as well. Thanks.

Thanks for the info Joe! I waited to long to stop by the post office so those 3 110s will have to wait. It would not suprise me if a price increase is in the future. I for one would pay it!

If its not too late :D

Communication is a wonderful thing!
It finally occured to me that it would sure be nice if everybody knew what was going on and got it straight from the Housers mouth. :D

By the way, great idea chickentrax! This thread is now stuck.

Thanks Joe!!! You are awesome!
Communication is wonderful :D

bitching and complaining in public is not the way to do it
email with pictures to Joe ...
he gets them sooner or later
aireing your bitch in public dont endear you to any one

i learned in kinder garden that you get along better
if you use kind words...ie:
dont say things in a mean way.

Will we be able to do blade swaps to ATS-34 or does this mean no more blade swaps with any steel?

if i understand it correctly no blade swaps right now only available in new customs
but i could be wrong

Joe Houser's quote as it appears in post #15 sure seems to say that the blade swap program has ended, period.

That quote was about BG-42, not ATS-34. I was wondering if it did apply to all steels or only BG-42. I'll call Buck at the end of January.
