Hi, I'm looking at a Spyderco Military (CPM 440v) and a Wegner Pro Hunter (s30v) right now.
The liner locks look identical to me. But they look conventional. No special "hooks" or anything like that. Both work well and both knives have passed the "whack test" just fine.
The lock on the PH is considerably stiffer than the Military, and feels more secure. It also has a metal frame on both sides, inset into the G10, whereas the Military just has the metal lock bar inset into the G10 frame.
I much prefer the PH overall compared to the Military. I think the handle is much better shaped, especially as it keeps your fingers from sliding forward onto the blade, and the lock is more recessed and less likely to be accidently released than the Military.
I should note that my Spyderco is a couple years old, this year's model could be a little different.
