Any thoughts on a Blade Tech Pro Hunter, S30V, G10, looks a lot like a Spyderco Military, with the hole in the blade rather than a thumb stud. Looks like a nice folder for EDC.

Low weight, sufficient strength, flat profile for in-pocket carry, frikkin' great ergo's, brilliant blade shape, ease of opening, sunken liners, fully ambidextrous.

The Millie only has 1 nested liner, is longer and sleaker in profile, and has a weaker tip. tip up carry only..

I'm not bashing the Millie, I love my CF BG42, but it's too big to carry in my trouserpocket allday long..

Your Millie has 2 nested liners.

ive had a a couple of the blade techs and imo they are smooth and well built. wegner makes nice knifes. i gave my son and son in law pro hunter lites for christmas. try it youll like it.

Thanks, good input, I think I'll get one and give it a try. Barrabas, I meant the Pro Hunter has a hole like the Spydercos, not a thumb stud like so many other brands.

mrrrtn,
since you have both, can you compare the thickness of the liners of the ProHunter and the military?
Are they about the same?
Thanks,Alex

Hi Alex,

The Hunter's liner is around 1mm, the Millie has a liner of around 1.25mm.

I took some pics:

Wow,thanks a lot
The Prohunter is really tempting. It looks like you've used it a good bit,are you satisfied with the overall sturdyness especially the lock?
I'm not sure if I should wait for the thicker Jumbo Prohunter?Or to go for the current version?
Any idea when the Jumbo'll be released?

Alex

For normal use the lock is sturdy enough. I even did some light batoning with it without loosening the lock, and all went well. I even had the impression that after that things seemed to fit together more smoothly and solid. It still has no bladeplay in whatever direction. I once dropped it, closed, from a ladder onto a stone floor and after that there was a little up and down play. After taking it apart, and putting things back together it was gone, and stayed gone. I bought me a Ganyana also, which has a Sebenza-like lock-up. Perfect contact of the whole liner across the tang of the blade, and smooth as oiled glass. Great affordable blades. I can't wait to hold the Magnum version of the Pro Hunter..

Hope this helps.

Yes,it helps  thanks again!
The Ganyana(as well as the Rijback) caught my eye too, cool to hear your positive comments about it.I'm courious about the Jumbos,if they'll have the same appeal of this "sleek/essential" character like the current ones.

Alex

P.S.:
I just noticed the beefier ones which are supposed to be released aren't called "Jumbos" :o
What I meant were the "Magnums"

mrrrtn,
cool pic with the Ganyana
Are you thinking about trying out the Rijbak in the future?

Alex

I have a Rijbak and it is a great knife. Bladetech has there stuff together as the knives coming from them get an A+ for function, fit/finish, and style! I'm waiting for the updated Pro Hunter to come out. Believe it is going to be a Magnum model!!

I'm not a member over at usual suspect yet.
What's the linked thread about?

Alex

P.S.:how long does it take till you get the account activation email from USN?

i actually quite like the pro hunter. it was very sharp and very light.

but i thought it was very ugly. looked like a banana, but black

It shows pics of the PH next to the PH Magnum.
The stock thickness increased from 1/8" to 5/32"
Liner thickness increased from 0.40" to 0.50"
:o
plus some additional information about what's cookin' at Blade-Tech's..
Don't know when the Magnum will appear though.. They want to get rid of the excisting stock first. They will be fased in gradually, but from when, I dunno.. Get a PH in the meantime! Only 100 buck's at http://www.newgraham.com/

Cool,thanks for the info.
Waiting on the activation email from USN now....is it normal for them that it takes its time??

Just a few more pictures to get the idea. SR RatTrap for comparation :)

I really like my Pro Hunters! They may look like banana  but they sure have nice ergonomy/grip options ...and like the slim handles becouse they are comfortable for carry ..
