My issue ones { from the 1980s. But made on Dharan Army base by Kamis employed by the British Army} are 8mm but evry firm in Nepal mass produces thier versians, copys, replicas, interpritations & occasionly even a few genuine issue ones for the British army.
I love the thickness of the khukuri blade. Are you looking for thinner idealy? Others here could suggest thinner bladed models, I've concentrated on the thickest chunk of steel I can get.
I believe that many modern khuks are overbuilt as the market kind of demands this. However, I don't mind a thick khuk at all. The only khuk-like-object that I would want to perform more than just chopping chores in my Pen Knife. It's thin enough to do a lot of jobs. These days, I pack a chunky khuk for my chopping needs and a lighter thinner blade for my cutting needs.
