After listening to everyone about neck knives and such, i came up with this. Its an All PURPOSE knife (sorry not armor piecing for you military types)...boot, neck, utility hunter.....my attempt at such a thing.

Thats great! I like it a lot. I think you must have telepathically stolen my idea though because I was thinking of making something a lot like that for a friend of mine

Fix it right the first time, use Baling Wire !

Tom, I love the grind and the false edge on it!! How do you etch your blades? I need to get a good etching machine for my stainless blades. I tried the personalizer route and didn't care for it. Take care! Michael

Nice knife Tom! What kind of sheath have you got for that knife? Is that one of the ones you're going to bring over to Maui?

Great knife Tom. Must have been a huge pain to drill all those holes in the Talonite!

Hmmmm not a false edge? Wow I bet she really penetrates fast!

The handle is nice, can hold it in a variety of ways looks like, how much of a nubbin' is the guard? would that be better rounded a bit more? Just wondered, as it looked like it might be bitey kind of, if pressed into hard use?

Just checked over your page, nice looking wares there, the oblong shaped holes reminded me of an old knife made by Scagel, I saw one of his in the Cutting Edge where he made his with an oblong cutout, even way back then!

Does Rob send you a bucket of Ageing Compound or is the Talonite pre-aged when you get it?

How thin do you grind down to on your edges with the Talonite?

i guess you want all those questions answered so here goes....the knives are rounded all the way around....almost to a radius...and the back of the guard has the same treatment...but it does stick up and would poke you....its there for a reason though....talonite comes aged i suppose... i understood that they did that at the plant. i try to leave the edges pretty thick...over .025 and maybe even .030, and then grind a long bevel for nice crisp sharp edge...seems to work best with this stuff. thanks for the compliments...tom/btw...i started putting that hole in there on my folders many years ago...mostly because i am left handed and wanted to be able to access the opening mechanism with my left hand..plus i have never been a big fan of those thumb bobs..especially on a hunting knife...bad place for things to collect and cause rust etc.

I have had a couple of people ask me and comment on the fact that Talonite grinds fairy easily (everything is relative of course/I use mostly ceramic belts)..but its impossible to drill a hole in it except with carbide....can anyone explain this phenomenon? I would really like to know why this is.

I hope Rob S. chimes in, cause I went to the link that Tom send regarding Talonite, and it didn't say anything about how hard it is to drill. I'm still baffled.

Thanks for the answers Tom, did you get the dog clean enough to suite your wife?
