Congrats Don, I voted for you even though I did not speak out, the knife did the talking for me.:) Great job, honors to an honorable man.
Jim
BTW: Never will forget what you did for me at Blade 2008.
Thanks Again,

Spectacular knife. The second I saw this picture I emailed Don telling him how impressive the knife is.

I also want to say (and I swear I am not exaggerating or kidding) that this is probably my all time favorite image Coop has taken of a Hanson knife. Not that the knife itself is not worthy of the title because it totally is 100%. However, knife aside, this image is absolutely outstandly perfect!

Who ever owns this bowie is a lucky motherf****R!!!!!

Watch your language young man, and get a haircut while you're at it.
:D

I agree that the photo really makes a difference, especially when everything is such high calibre. I almost didn't put Andrews' subhilt in my top choices because of the photo, but after looking at it so much, and knowing the handle was ferruled together, it became my #1 choice in the end.

Perhaps next year, Jim could lend some consistency to the judging by hosting a contest of this variety on his spanking new website, using only knives he photographed;):D It's all about content flow, y'know, and voting and contest provide good traffic:thumbup:. Bloggish. I'm sure there'd be volunteers to lend a hand...

Let's be truthful. It is a photography contest as well. Not between the photographers, but between the the knives. It's inescapable.

For me, that was not my favorite DH3 bowie. I liked another, less 'rich' flavor.

I waffled on the Fisk and Andrews and chose the Andrews, probably because I don't own a damascus fixed blade knife. Again, that's me. RA2 was the runner-up, BTW.

Nice work by all parties involved.

Coop

That was NOT an easy choice to make. After looking at all of them. That Fisk made my heart skip a beat, and therefore THAT is the one I chose.

Maybe Don isn't the good guy we think he is, because no less than Vince Lombardi opined that good guys finish last. Naw, I always thought Lombardi's factoid was blather.

Don might of coulda', shoulda' won last year too with that long, wicked bladed, ivory handled bowie with the sinister name, which remains imprinted on my old, mushy brain.

Most of all I'm just proud Roger wasn't the winning owner again, which spares us all from asking what's wrong with that picture--a lawyer winning his own contest 2 years running. Fixed or not, I can't think of a more fun and inspiring way for BF to ring in the new year.

Two contests may not make a tradition, but I sure hope it does. Kudos to Roger and Marcel for the idea and the effort.

Thanks Ken.

I don't own any of the finalists, so there was no danger of a repeat.

I'm happy to continue running this at the end of each year as long as interest remains. And when I look back at all the nominees and see the outstanding bowies that makers at all levels are producing, I positively can't wait to see what '09 brings.

Roger

Speaking of the impact of quality photographs, check out this new and improved image of the Andrews subhilt. That outstanding sheath is Russ' handiwork as well.

An kudos to my buddy Stephen for landing two knives from his collection in the final 5.

All of them are incredibly beautiful. It's difficult to pick just one. Everyone of them speaks to me in different ways.

The art and craftsmanship in Fisk's knife in amazingly detail and perfect. Wow...

The Hanson is superbly beautiful in it's simplicity and clean lines.

All of them are very inspirational. I'd be proud to own any of them...

I was introduced to your site today and haven't been able to leave it... I have seen some beautiful knives in my life,
but never so many and so beautiful as I have seen here, -in this forum today.

Truly inspirational. Thank you for the nice tread.

Kind regards, -Spinner
