BladeForums BEST BOWIE - 2010 Edition - VOTING NOW CLOSED - Finalists Selected

I havent had computer access the past week- only iphone- so cant load all of the photos. i would like to scalp my votes to highest bidder! :D.

Actually if anyone needs a vote i think i have decided to base my votes on "extraordinary measures" this year. Or a good sob story! ;)

i figure Stuart Branson gets one for beating out that ballbearing and recruiting his wife to help - That leaves "6" remaining.

Pm your story or post it here, by 11pm tonight..
David

Blissful torture indeed. Good stuff guys. Those of you still scratching your heads, quit scratching and start typing. Tick tock, and all that...

I just caught a glance re the vote for the Wolfe SF Bradford. Are we sure that it was made in 2010? Wolfe had said he was not doing pieces of that size last year as his forearms and hands would not handle the strain. I don't know who owns the piece but maybe more info was needed.

Murray, I believe I'm the only one voted for that piece up till now, so I guess it won't get to the final 5.

By the way Happy New Year everybody (it's about an hour past twelve over here!!)

Voting is NOW CLOSED.

My sincere thanks to you all for your participation in the selection of finalists.

Without futher ado, the 5 knives which will proceed to the final voting stage, as as follows (in alphabetical order):

1) Bruce Bump Justice Bowie (Post 41/3)

2) Jerry Fisk - Artifact South West Bowie NLT (Post 12/1)

3) Dave Lisch - Flying Dragon Bowie (Post 27/2)

4) Rodrigo Sfreddo - Moghul Fighter (Post 47/1)

5) Nick Wheeler - W2 Fighter (Post 1/6)

As others have mentioned, the collective group of nominees has been nothing less than spectacular indeed. I'm sure most of you found it as difficult as I did to choose from among such a stellar field. My congratulations go out to each and every one of the nominees.

I generally refrain from comment on comparative votes among the finalists, but I will say that in past years there has been generally a clear front-runner based on this stage of voting. Not so this year. There was almost a freakish level of parity among this group which distanced itself from the other compelling nominees. Just 2 votes separated all 5 finalists.

My thanks to Lorien for his valued help this year again in keeping count of the votes.

And once again - my thanks to you all of you for your sumbissions, votes an commentary. As I said before, this thread is what you all make it, and once again, you have made it pretty great.

Look for a new thread later today to commence voting for Best Bowie.

Roger

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!

I've had a few requests for the top 5 knives that fell short of making the final cut.

Here they are:

7-1 – Foster (ever so achingly close.... )

27-1 – Hanson

1-5 – Fuegen

14-1 – Fuegen

21-1 – Wheeler

Roger

Roger, this is a fun thread to look forward to each year. Thanks!

What a great bunch of knives! Glad a few of mine were included. Thanks folks! :)

I'd like to say thanks to Roger for nominating me and especially to Paul, Joe, David and Steve for the votes. It means a lot to me to be in this thread at all but to actually get voted into the rarified air of the other contestants is a treat beyond comparison. Thanks guys!

I feel the same as Stuart. I am truly honored to be nominated and to have received a few votes for some of my work as well as an honorable mention from STeven, it means alot. THANK YOU

Roger and Lorien, thank you both for your efforts in what turned out to be the best thread on this subject yet! You set the bar very high for next year.

To ALL of the nominee makers, thank you all as well for creating the beautiful knives exhibited here this year. There will be a "winner" ultimately, but each of you are winners on an equal basis in your own right. I applaud each of you and particularly the newer makers (Mike Jr., Stuart, John Cohea, and Kyle) who elevated their skills to this level in such a very short time.

Paul
