Greetings all,

Congrats again to all the nominees and in particular to this fine selection of knives. For future reference, the nomination thread can be found here:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=802809

Cast your vote in the poll for the knife that you like best. As always, it would be interesting for all if you would also post a reply to this thread indicating which knife you picked and why. Not mandatory, but appreciated.

The poll is set to close automatically "2 days after January 1st, 2011." So don't sit about pondering your choice for too long.

Here are your finalists in alphabetical order:

The Moghul Fighter looks like is from another era...very nice, I like it best, followed closed by the Justice Bowie

I'll make that Two for Bruce.

The overall shape and flow is #1, all lines compliment each other. The blade pattern and engraving also compliment each other and the whole has a movement forward that gives it life.

Happy New Year

I voted for Nick Wheeler. That knife has the best balance and proportions of the bunch from my aesthetic point of view, the hamon and the handle material are incredible, the shape of the handle is neat, and fit and finish are exceptional and flawless.

Dave Lisch dragon bowie all the way!!! Dave has progressed so much and what a fine example of a well executed knife. From design to steel Dave is really becoming a very impressive maker.

What an incredible group of knives! It is amazing that we can have a way like this to see them all at once. So much artistry but I just have to go with the Fisk as my favorite.

Awesome choices! I feel fortunate to have shaken hands with all of them.......actually shook hands with 4 and "coon fingered" the other.

Well my vote went to Mr Wheelers fighter even though it is more a fighter than a Bowie

I like to look at all the knives as if they where a sketch minus the embelishments. That way the knife with the best over all lines stands out and I don't get lost in the iceing.

For me even though it is close the Wheeler piece is the knife I would pick to own

Congrats to all but especially Dave L with your knife this year you really stepped up to the heavy weights

My choice could be different if I were to have the chance to hold each of them, but from the pictures, I also went for "Justice".

What a display of incredible knives! This year was the best IMHO!

It's down to the Wheeler and the Bump for me - and it may be that I am unduly influenced by having held both.

I can't honestly say I like one better than the other. As nice as you THINK that Bump piece is from the pics, trust me, it's NICER. And as crisp and clean as the Wheeler looks, the FEEL of this knife just about defines a fighting bowie for me, regardless of the label.

At the end I had to find some way to get down off the fence. So I imagined myself in a melee on a sandbar, or making a last desperate stand at a besieged mission / fort. Which one do I reach for?

Vote Wheeler.

Plus I kinda feel that this piece is really up against it in terms of the much more elaborate and highly embellished competition - and I can't help cheering for the underdog.

I have to give props to Dave for making it into the finals. I have given that knife one of the more meaningful endorsements that a collector can. I ordered one. :) Even before I saw Coop's excellent image.

The Fisk is a stunning piece of work and Rodrigo's fighter is just sublime.

What a great group of knives!

Roger

nick, then bruce, but all are spectacular! congratulations to all finalists!

best regards,
hans

For me it's got to be Nick Wheeler, It's a knife I would use all the others although beautifully made are Art knives and lets be honest how many of you would take them out and use them.

Damn, this was tough...and fun! All fantastic in different ways. I cast my vote for the Fisk.

Enjoyed Roger's approach of imagining ones self in a melee. Also thought about it from a "gentleman's knife" viewpoint as I hung out victorious at the local riverboat gambling establishment; whiskey, painted ladies, music, smoke, and all.

The Fisk is that total picture for me (along with a pair of Colt's at my side). The unique 2 firestarter technique artifact, engraving & gold embellishment, that clamshell guard, and the killer damascus give it beauty but there is no compromise to the fact that it's a knife you can trust your life to.

David Lisch's Flying Dragon still haunts me. Just love it.

For me it was between Bruce Bump and Rodrigo Sfreddo. In the end I gave my vote to Rodrigo. Why? Well because it has just a little bit more of flow and lots of je ne sais quoi.

Funny how often that very thing can often be a decisive factor. ;)
