Great thread, superb knives one and all and a very well deserved win with Johns knife. What a close run race for 1st 2nd and 3rd, congratulations.

Thank you everyone. I want to take a minute to specially thank Shane for putting this fun thread together every year. I know it's a LOT of work.

I'm very honored, happy, and kind of surprised actually to win this year. This was a great group to be included with and I was happy to just be in the finals. Winning put it over the top. It really means a lot to me though to have the support from other makers, collectors and viewers here on this forum. I'm glad to be a part of it.

Thanks again for the votes everyone. I really appreciate it.

It's my pleasure to put this on. Thanks everyone for participating and making this a great showing.

I really like how close the competition is every year. This year was no exception.

What a great group of knives in the finals!
Fantastic knife from a fantastic knife maker and better man. John your contributions here on BF are a blessing and inspiration to all of us.

Shane, you are to be commended for continuing this tradition, which brings outstanding knives of MANY makers into the forefront... again! Thank you.

I am privileged to have worked with John, and even though my work shows it nicely, "Photos don't do it justice" is the phrase I hear and understand all too well.

That goes for EVERY ONE of the knives shown, even in the first thread. As we handle them the appreciation for heft, lightness ergonomics, and usability take precedence over admirable images.

Now we start anew. 2018 here we come!

Congratulations, John! Your knife is definitely worthy of the title, "Best Hunter!"

Also, thank you, Shane, for putting this thread together these past 2 years. It can't believe how long the Best Bowie thread went on before it was thought of to create a Best Hunter thread to go along with it. Some of the very best knives out there, as displayed in this and the nomination threads, are in fact hunters. I'm already looking forward to seeing the best of 2018 ;)
