Bladerunner LLC on Amazon - terrible experience

I purchased a knife from BladeRunner LLC on Amazon. It shipped from Las Vegas, NV. I don't know if this is the same BladeRunner from AZ that gets good reviews here. I suspect it's not. And some of you may be asking "why Amazon?" I waited 3 months for a specific knife to be in stock somewhere. These guys appeared to have it. After I ordered, they shipped me the same one that everybody else had in stock.

1. Sent wrong product.
2. When I requested a refund, they asked me to ship it back to them and said they would refund directly and not go through Amazon. Red flag #1.
3. No positive response from them on this, so I went to Amazon. Bladerunner responded by sending me a shipping label. It was addressed to me, not them, and therefore unusable.
4. At this point my refund status at Amazon was (and still is) "pending approval."
5. I asked Amazon to get involved again. They denied me, saying that I had a shipping label, so they were taking care of me.
6. Escalated to Amazon again and told them I didn't have an approved return or a usable shipping label. Amazon contacted the seller.
7. Seller denied my return saying I was outside their return window.

This is by far the worst seller experience I've ever had on Amazon. All they needed to do was accept my return request. I got the wrong knife. Stay away from these guys.

That's unbelievable. I wouldn't let this go if I were you. BladeRunner LLC's customer service number is 702-704-4069. If you tell them that you initiated the return X number of days before the return window closed (and that the delay was not caused by you) then there's no way they good deny your return with a straight face.

Surely you paid with credit card? If so, are you within the CC company's window to contest the charge?

Escalate with Amazon. "Jeff Bezos: If You Have a Problem With Amazon, Email Me.... If you have questions, you may contact Jeff Bezos directly (jeff@amazon.com)."

Be very, very calm and clear. Start with an executive summary, such as: "A shipping label to ship the item to me does not amount to facilitating return of the noncomplying item to the seller. I needed a label to ship to the seller. "

Thanks guys. No way I'm going to let this go. btw, Amazon appears to have already given me a 50% credit. I'll get the other 50% back one way or another. And I'm not thrilled with Amazon here either. I'm a seller on Amazon. I was out of town once and missed a refund request. Amazon refunded the full amount and charged me for it. They can do a very good job on this stuff.

If I have to send a note to Bezos or the person who owns customer support for them, I will do so. I was on a chat last night with them and was assured that they won't leave me hanging on this one. That's likely the case, but the effort I've having to put in is unacceptable.

Note To Self.....
If prices or items are
To good to be true.....

DONT BUY FROM AMAZON
SELLERS!!!!!

Stick with reputable dealers!

Price was the opposite of good. It was about 25% higher than other places. They had a knife that nobody else seemed to have. Of course once I got it, that turned out to not be the case since it was the wrong item. I checked all the reputable places and I waited 3 months. I even sent a note to the manufacturer earlier. They said they were behind and hoping to get caught up. (No issues with them - their response was great.) I got impatient and decided to order one. (This was going to be a work knife for the wife, so I wanted to get to her sooner rather than later. She knew what she wanted and I could not find it anywhere.)

The only reason I thought it was a safe bet to go through Amazon is that it's virtually impossible to get screwed with the Amazon A-Z guarantee. They will make it right. It's just turning out to be a huge pain in the ass.

I would never get a knife from Amazon I could get from one of the regular dealers we all know. Not even for a lower price. I will be anything local I can. Next will be a small online shop. Amazon and big box are last resort for me, not first.

Just because a seller is an "affiliated" Amazon seller, this does not mean that you are buying from Amazon. If you do not want return shenanigans such as what the OP has cited, you must either:

A- make sure that the seller is indeed Amazon, i,e, you are buying from Amazon's own merchandise in their own stock

Or

B- the order is being fulfilled by Amazon on behalf of their sellers.

It would also make a tremendous amount of sense to be an Amazon Prime customer if you intend to buy more items on Amazon, and/or use their extensive media vault in order to get your $99 yearly membership's worth, because most often as soon as a returning merchandise is scanned by UPS (most often the return conduit), within hours you will get a refund notification without the return package even making it to their return facilities!

For full disclosure purposes, personally I am neither an Amazon shopper nor a Prime Member but I have family members who are and I have handled many returns on their behalf and 99.9% they have been nothing but smooth sailing! That said, I would NOT buy sh*t from an affiliated seller who has their own return policy and NOT through Amazon. Therein lies the OP's bad and sad experience with BladeRunner LLC..

^^^I'm an amazon seller and would have 100% disagreed with this previously. After my current experience I would have to agree. Amazon is not overly helpful with 3rd party sellers. The A-Z guarantee is very narrowly defined. It can work for you, but you need to stay within the boundaries of the submit date and reply within 3 days of them sending you a message. Not great. In this case I was travelling and missed it. I'm done with 3rd party sellers on Amazon after this one, despite being a 3rd party seller.

RipD, after reading my own post I noticed that the very last paragraph comes across as heavy handed simply because there are many hard working, honest and diligent small-time sellers who use Amazon to sell their merchandise but because because of Amazon's stifling rules vis a vis third party sellers, can not afford to become "affiliated" sellers. I did not wish to paint all with a broad brush at the expense of some dodgy third party sellers.

So to recap, I just want to illuminate some shoppers who may not be savvy and informed about buying from Amazon that the Amazon's legendary "liberal" return policy does NOT apply to every situation unless as I had stated. Like anything else when buying online, buyer beware by reading the fine print on return processes would be a solid piece of advice.

Long ago, I used to only buy blades on Amazon. Once 3rd party vendors populated the site, I moved to bladeforums dealers only. It's much safer.

I've had nothing but great experiences with well known dealers who support this site.
