For only about $55-60, the Becker Magnum Camp knife. I think it's also called the BK5, not sure of the number though. And for folders, I would second the Ontario Utilitac 2, they're only about $25. I think I got mine on sale for about $19-20.
 
For abusing and beating with abandon I second the suggestion of the Becker BK2 or, depending on what you want to do with. a TacTool Becker BK3.

If you break either of these - you must have really, really tried to!
 
Schrade Kukri machete, SCHKM1. Blade will ding with heavy use but it won't break, and it's easy to sharpen. Plus it comes with a diamond sharpener and a firestarter. Get 2 for 80 bucks, don't worry about beating the hell out of them.
 
I just got a Kershaw Volt2 SS for $15 I think is amazingly fun, and currently my favorite cheap knife.

There is a Realsteel E571 waiting in my mailbox for me to play with.
