Blades For A Trip Down The Amazon

Watched all the vids and picture Saturday. Such great stuff! Thanks for sharing with us.

Were you able to do any bow fishing or hunting while there. The one part of the vid where some one tossed a bamboo shaft at the cayman, I thought you were bow hunting at first!.

Thanks everyone

We did do some bow fishing but very hard to video at night

As for hunting we were on reservation land and they did not allow hunting so we respected our hosts

Thanks for the kind words

Looks like a great trip was had. Welcome back.
Wouldnt mind a group pic of the knives in their present condition, if possible:D

I'll see what I can do

The piece that got the most work was my old Van Staal pliers

The cutters cut thru a mustad heavy shank hook that went thru Brancos finger and another that Branco pushed thru my arm after I got hooked

The knives only cut braid mostly

The locals used machetes and these large butcher knives for everything

My buddy was packing one of Nathan the Machinists el max blades which rusted slightly

Joe,

Super thread with great videos!!

It looks like you had a really good time.

When are we going to see a reality show named "The Adventures of Joe Paranee"?

Jim

You guys are all way to kind and I feel so lucky to have been able to see a bit of the Amazon Basin

It is truly an incredible place with wonderful people

As for the show

I wish someone would start paying off this stuff :)

Man, great stuff Joe! Looks like a killer trip. Glad all went well, love your pics. I enjoy seeing your gear almost as much as the results. :)

What a wonderful adventure.

This fish are named Tucunaré. Jumping of the water like a crazy one. There are two types yellows and blues.
Welcome to Brasil.
And be careful to the hunt. it´s crime in every circunstance. Only if you are lost and hungry. Our Laws in this cases are very protectionists and very hard.
Best regards.
a.
PS. Asked for a "Caldo de Piranha", its a soup make with a piranha. it´s a natural viagra. it´s really good and tasty. to eat, Pacu na brasa - Pacu on the grill, or Pintado on the gril. the best fishs in the all world. Fried Tucunaré also is wonderful.
And the most important thing
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING
BE CAREFUL WITH THE CANDIRU. It´s a little fish, who penetrate in your penis, for your uretra, when you urinate in the water of the amazons river. It´s terrible and it´s removable only by cirurgy. So if you are into the river, urinate in your paints, don´t put your thing out. it´s SERIOUS.
OK?

I have to admit that I spent a lot of time looking at the trees.
Spotted a few that I know would have very good figured wood.

The wood is amazing there

The hotel in Manaus was incredible for a wood fan

The doors and stairs were beautiful

I bought some hand carved Tucans for the family

Very cool to see a glimpse of your adventure. I'd love to go someday. Thanks for sharing and incorporating your knife selection and usage.
