I have a large chunk of submarine steel from the boat I served on, and would like to turn it into something both cool and useful. I was thinking a kichen knife or two. Anyone interested?

Hello, welcome to BF and thank you for your service.

Could you be a little more specific then “submarine steel”
Do you have any idea what the steel is? if not what was it from/used for? also what size and shape is this chunk?

Best Regards,
Joseph

I don't have it infront of me right now, but I would ball park it at about 18" sq x 1/2" thick. I will measure when I get home tonight.

I can’t seem to find very much information about hy 100, and what I have found it sounds like it wouldn’t be much good as a knife.
Though if you still want a knife out of it you might be able to do a San Mai blade.
