Since I'm just getting started, I figured I would have a much easier time learning technique through someone with experience.

I live in both Orlando and Winter Haven, as I go back and forth between home and the University. I would like the supplement my music with the ringing of steel.

If anyone lives within a hop and a skip from either of those two areas, please let me know. I'm willing to pay for lessons/apprenticeship.

I grew up in Winter Park/Orlando(50s----70s) I now live in Atlanta, but flew home from Orlando this evening from a business trip. While I was there.......I made a visit to Randall Made Knives on OBT (hwy 441). I bought my first Randall when I was eight.
I would suggest a visit should be high on your priority list. Advise, employment, opportunity.......It's like OZ........Follow the yellow brick road

I just moved down to the Miami/Homestead area myself and was excited to meet a few local knifemakers. Not many down this far South....I guess I am now a "Transplanted Floridian." :)

In the past, they had a solo show, but this year, they are partnered up with Two Guys Gun Shows. I was told recently that Two Guys is probably the most "custom knife friendly" of the major Florida gun shows and that they tend to have some custom makers at their shows even when it isn't a joint show.
The Florida Guild is hosting a show in Sarasota next month. Why not stop by and meet some of our knife makers?

Are you apart if the guild or faba? I'd love to meet up with you one day

No. I let my FKA and ABS memberships lapse. Lack o' extra cash at the time. I may grab a table at the Sarasota show as you don't have to be an FKA member to get one as best as I can tell. Depends what I can finish up in the next month. I haven't attended a show as an exhibitor for a few years.

They are good people, but you almost have go by there in person because their on line catalog has always been pretty wonky. LOL
Check out Sheffield for knife supplies if you haven't yet. Especially handle material. I used to go hand pick mine out when I was over that way.
