Well, it’s time to test my pitiful carpentry skills and build 3 tables for competition cutting practice. The hope is to have a few practice runs in before the CPK Outlaw Cut and BladeSports Tarheel Cut. Some refer to them as the “fing new Catalina whine mixer”. - yoko yoko Thanks for the concept brother !

Had brackets made for 3 tables but I’ll build the heavier 2X4 cutting table, to start.

Should be able to finish framing this one today. I’ll mount the brackets tomorrow. Hope to be swingin’ steel next week. 👍🏼

tinfoil hat timmy tinfoil hat timmy is my advisor lol

I've had some hand issues lately but timmy and Bennie Boo say it's nothing duct tape won't fix lol
Right on buddy ! I look forward to hangin’ in your neck o’ the woods some day. Almost made the Kokomo Cut but family stuff happened. Good luck w/ the effort ! 👍🏼

Hand issues ? I had carpel tunnel surgery in both hands a while back. It helps. Now duct tape and Timmy in your corner, that’s a recipe for a ….well, sounds …um…interesting ? 🤣 Whatever Ben is doing…that’s wuzzup !!!

having me in your corner simply means that it's more full of hot air.

Well, sadly, the fabrication shop screwed up not once, but twice ! 🤔 The three brackets that hold the 2x4 w/ 2x6 below for the horizontal board cut are well out of spec. I’ll be taking them back in tomorrow to have the mounting bolt holes counter sunk deeper.

Bitching about it doesn’t bring the project any closer to completion. Instead, I’ve tried to focus on consolidating as many cutting events as space provides, to one table. Eventually, the plan is to build at least three tables and hopefully, host competitions one day. I don’t believe there are any competition cuts in the NW.

All’s well that ends well and a lot of progress was made today. Albeit, I still feel behind schedule. Regardless, my novice ass should be able to safely get a few practice swings in early this week. 👍🏼

There is so much good there, EMCEE EMCEE ! Don't let the minor things detract from you finishing that (and hopefully 8 more) of them pale ales!! 😆

Just kidding, the setup looks fantastic!! 😍🥰🤩

Keep going, young man! That is going to be awesome!!!!! 🙌👏🤜🤩🤩🤩

Sincere thanks for the positive reinforcement. I’m excited about the entire project and future opportunities related to it.

Now let’s talk about this “young man” thing you say. I’m 53, which is easily considered “middle aged”, right ? Don’t expect me to act it though ! 😜

I reserve my dignified and mature version for work and family. All bets are off when it comes to the forum. I guess we all need a happy place. 👊🏼 Btw, I managed to finish the entire 6 pack of pale ales….pretty happy ! 🍻 Cheers !!!

Bro! If we are going off how we act, I'm 14 years old AT BEST! Actually 42!!

Only as.young as you act, and I will strongly adhere to that!! 😁😁😁

ETA: I mean, ready posts! Tell me that is not the voice of an adolescent!!!!!! 🤣

That looks great!

Probably won’t catch me being recorded until Mooresville. I’ve got a lot of learning to do.
Food for thought:
I know some folks don’t like showing videos of trying things, until they feel they’re halfway decent, but simply put, you’re on a forum with a Bladesports Champion with the ability to give you pointers and advice on any flaws she might observe.

In all the physical sports I’ve engaged in, this is one of the most valuable things for newbies. You don’t know what you don’t know, and even a lot of folks who try to learn by watching videos, often don’t realize that what they think they’re doing the same way as in the video, isn’t.

Experienced practitioners can watch a video and quickly point out, “OK, when you’re doing that, try placing your feet this way, and angling your body like this. You’ll be able to maintain better accuracy while generating power like this”, etc.

Especially in skill based activities, one of the hardest things to do, is try to relearn something that’s been trained repetitively into muscle memory.
