Blanks are in .....pics

CF, I cheat and use a fileguide along with a couple scribe lines on the edge. It really helps you see where you want to stop your grinds.

My problem is more that my grinder is super finicky, and likes to jog all over the place. But the file guide thing gives me an idea.

Moose

ETA Hey, Chris, you gotta hook my man Guyon with something special. Hint, he likes the Muk

I almost picked one of those up when i saw them, figured I would handle it and make it the BK-Crowbar

HEY Moose,

Any chance We could sneak these onto the Kabar edge machines ? ..lol
Case of bourbon in it for you ?

Are you sure these are hardened?? are there marks to indicate they were tested??

if they're hardened and you want bang for your buck, without a doubt, hands down send them to RichardJ here on the forums he will hook you up right and has more years behind the grinder then most of us are old... :)

that way you know for sure the temper will not be (tampered) with !! and you will have a razor sharp edge..

I'm limited on time otherwise I'd offer some help, although I do have a forge, a heat treat oven and tempering oven in which to handle your hardening needs that wouldn't absorb much time and I'd do it for free if you need something along those lines..

awesome blades man.. SCORE!!

I only say they are hardened because the seller said they were and they had that blueish sheen that seems to occur during heat treat.
I would LOVE to get these ground with a Becker style edge even if they need to be annealed and then re heat treated.

I love this grp !

Richard J suggested another grinder only because Richard grinds outside, buuuut he did say that he also suggested a chisel grind which he would do and partial convex it.
He said he just did one for someone recently who said it chops like nothing he has ever chopped with.
I am officially intrigued.
Anyone have any thoughts about a chisel ground edge on a Camillus era BK-9?

Jeremy Horton does a lot of big knives with chisel grinds. You might ask about people's experiences with the design in his forum.

It would be a first for a BK I'd imagine !!! I've never seen a large knife with a chisel grind (that I remember), personally I like the idea simply because its different..

Now for chopping?? IDK, seems to me you'd only be able to chop one way (the side the grinds on) the other way not so much, not that it can't be done just doesn't seem very functional..

I'd like to hear from someone else who has actual experience with a large chopper with a chisel grind..

To me people go in phases with knives, yr or two you like (carry) fixed only, next yr its folders, slip in another year and its slip-joints:), one yr its convexed, the next its scandi etc.. speaking from personal experience here, the longer you're around knives the more you find your tastes fluctuating from time to time, its like thinking outside the box:eek:, or as some may put it abstaining from kool-aid :D
