Finally got the blanks ironed out and holes drilled. I must say, filing metal by hand is a rewarding experience. I am also beginning to understand why people value good files so much. So far it's been a good experience. I'm excited to proceed. I'll probably do some refining on the tips before I dig into the bevels. Any thoughts before I proceed?

Like the shape a lot. I'm assuming paring duty?
Aesthetically, I think pin spacing could be a a bit wider.
Bevels are their own special challenge. What were you planning? Going the file route there as well?

Paring duty is correct. And yes I am going to be filing the bevels. Gonna attempt to freehand them. From what I can tell, learning to hold an angle accurately through hand-eye coordination is a worthwhile effort. The distal taper should also be interesting as well. I'm a little uncertain of how to ensure a flat bevel along a taper, but I figure it will really be a feel thing. We shall see.

Thanks. I'll make sure to finish with draw filing. I bought a #4 Grobet file just for that purpose. Tomorrow's the day I start.
