Anyone have any ideas on how to bleach Mammoth Ivory? I don't know if it can be done or not, I DO know that Clorox Bleach does NOT work. So Any ideas or working solutions?

Thanks

I don't know about Ivory but I read somwhere that the hydrogen peroxide you get at the beauty supply store will bleach bone. This is the stuff that they use to make blondes with.

Why am I good enough to fix my mistakes, but not good enough to keep from making them in the first place?

Jim, Mikes right, but you have to make sure its the THICK stuff beautitions use.I learned this trick from an old taxidermist who used it to brighten elephant and warthog tusks. Yep, from the days when you could actually mount the stuff you bagged on safari. I've also used it for bone and walrus ivory with real good results.
