Blemish on Blade, should I be concerned?

Just received my first ZT, an 0562cf. Upon inspection of the blade I see this blemish:

It was listed as "All of these knives are brand new in box. Each is perfect in my eyes with no flaws." I'm not calling out the seller, it's just an interesting and very noticeable spot on the blade. It doesn't clean off and the blueing appears to possibly be caused by heat perhaps? Not sure.

Maybe belongs to GBU? I'd return and ask for a full refund (including shipping+insurance).

GBU? I've reached out to the seller, awaiting reply. I passed on a nearly same priced ZT too the day after, I know 0562cf ZTs disappear quickly and I've been stalking the exchange for a while. Oh well. I've seen plenty of successful exchange purchases happen to get discouraged :D

If you are uncomfortable with it, tell the seller and let them know you wouldn't feel comfortable using the knife as you had planned and would like a refund.

That is a noticeable mark that should have been stated in the sales ad.

I think I'm going to return it... bummer I've got to wait again for something to come up. I tried wiping it down a few times but you can still definitely tell there's discoloration/ an issue with that part of the blade. The blueing makes me fear an issue with the tempering

Good call. I'd be unhappy too. All well and good if you knew ahead with full disclosure but this one is too obvious to have slipped by unmentioned. I hope you get full cooperation with no hassles in the return.

Return it brother. If the seller gives you a hassle, and you really like the knife, it might be worth it to give ZT customer service a call.
Explain the situation and see what they say.
Pretty sure proof of purchase, of anything related, is not necessary.
Let us know how this works out.
Good luck.
Joe

PS....it's a fantastic knife!!

It looks like the blade was exposed to intense heat. Could very well be a factory defect and the seller bought it at a discounted price. I would definitely return it if possible.

Kind of what I'm fearing. The seller is being pretty cooperative with return minus not wanting to cover cost of return shipping (after pointing out to him after the fact you can see the blemish slightly in the ad post, he responded with he didn't falsely advertise the condition), so I guess it's kind of becoming a pain. With ZTs policy on replacing blades I could work something out with ZT possibly and still have less in it than what it'd be new. Lessons learned I suppose

I absolutely love the knife otherwise! Definitely lived up to the hype. Fits my xxl hands perfectly and the overall feel of the knife is outstanding. The flipping action is smooth as glass also. Can't do much tonight with the issue but I'll be giving ZT a call when able.

I have heard good things about their customer service dept, I hope they take care of the issue. It may help to get the picture used by the seller if possible, that way you can prove that you received it that way.

I , too , would be unhappy if I received a new knife with that spot on the blade. If it doesn't wipe off I'd def return it.

I owned a Bm710 years ago that I ended up sending to BM to have the blade hardness checked, that process (whatever machine they use to test the HRC) left nearly identical marks. They tested it in two spots; one on the tang and one in about the same spot a pictured.

I have had similar looking marks from something getting on the blade. I'm not saying it wasn't created by heat but it doesn't look like that to me. Especially on a main grind. I bet a little flitz would take that right out. But regardless if I got a knife like that sold to me as perfect I would probably not want to deal with it either.
