Blems for 4/30/4, flu and other delights.

The BAS handle may or may not be too short. You can trim the corners of the buttcap and handle off, smoothing them, and that fixes the problem for me.

We need to start a support group - teachers w/ khuks!

You probably will have some trouble picking out the "beauty marks" - mostly because you'll have these wonderfully big shiny blades that feel like magic in your hand. Eventually, you'll feel something that isn't quite right, but instead of sending it back to the factory or throwing it in a drawer to rust, you'll find 3 cents of superglue and a quarter worth of sandpaper and make it 100% right for you. Instead of whining about the little blemish, you'll brag about fixing it.

Then again, there are guys who can find fatal flaws in a Sebenza CNC'ed to tolerences below .000000001 inch. They don't like khuks much. :D

Welcome aboard. Hang on for the ride.

Putting your thumb on the angled part of the brass bolster gives you more handle to grab on to. It also prevents the blade from rotating in your hand on poorly aimed cuts or when your hand is wet.

Otaru,
I've had good luck with all my pieces by Kumar. All have had plenty of handle. In short, do it, "debt is good." :D

Hey guys, I'm just getting into the whole "knife thing" and thought I'd go for a big one! :) I''ve been lurking here, reading all the reviews, and deciding between a hatchet and a khuk for general outdoor chore duty. The khuk is a winner... Gotta get me one of those 16.5in WWII models.

Cheers,
MK9

Had to email Bill about something today and he responded with about four sentences, and that wore him out, and he was headed for the recliner. Was going to say he was weak as a kitten, but on re-reading it he actually said he was "weak as a cat".

That flu has hit him long enough that he should perk back up soon - if he wants to: sounds like he's not so sure of that about now! ( Just kidding but there's probably some truth to it! :D :D :D )

Edit to add: more smoke on the way for you, Bill.

Yippee! Snagged an 18" gelbu special.Have been wanting one of these for some time :D :D :D
Yaj.

hmm... I kind of tried to too... it was a bit late when I sent the email saying I'd go for it (9:30 pm here) so I didn't get a reply. Hope there were two or one of us (probably me... well that's okay) is out of luck.

Can't send money for Khuks right now, but I can send prayers and wishes for ya UB! :) Hang tough, Uncle.

If there is an :
M43
Chitlangli/chainpuri
gelbu special (that isn't taken by one swifter than I, lucky dog)
or an 18" or larger AK

i'd love one.

(email sent saying the same)

Well I got a reply saying I got one so I guess an 18 inch Gelbu Special with horn handle will be my first khukuri. :D

Tohatchi, I´m in for the European section of the support group...
Should problems with keeping the student´s discipline ever occur (I know - a good teacher does not have any problems with any student anytime... ) - we could wear a Khukuri during the lessons to "pacify" the classroom. :D
Too bad I teach at a school in the more rural area - not too much need to wear a khuk.
